    purchased xbox live gold on console but not showing up on website or console

    I used the special offer on the home screen "Act fast to save 40%" to upgrade my silver membership to a gold. After i pressed purchase the payment screen just closed and went back to the dashboard. On my console it says i'm silver, I can't play live on games
    and the website says I'm a free member as well. Any help is appreciated.

    You are showing up as gold on the forums, so I think you are ok. The email was probably just to notify you that you had earned ms points through the rewards program for upgrading to gold.

    The current profile is not allowed to play on Xbox LIVE.

    You can't play multiplayer with a silver account, you need to upgrade to gold.

    You are (or at least were) limited to 3 free months on a NEW console, if you can't play Xbox LIVE you will need to purchase Gold. Right now (via Xbox.com) it says your account is Silver (which is not allowed to play Xbox LIVE multiplayer)

    gold is not needed to purchase anything but some content is exclusive to gold accounts at first then it is availible to silver accounts.
