    Can't purchase Red Dead Redemption


    Every time I try to purchase RDR, I get a message that says "Sorry, your purchase cannot be completed at this time. Try again." Seems odd since all XBL services are up and running. Anyone else having this issue?

    I was charged for buying red dead redemption but I didn't purchase it.

    Hi, if you are trying to purchase upon Xbox One and receiving this error you can simply buy the game on the 360 marketplace (you must purchase the game on the same account as your Xbox One account) on the Xbox 360 or try purchasing on your account at either
    of these links upon the Xbox.com site-

    Can't purchase Red Dead Redemption

    I was able to complete the purchase after I got on the phone with Xbox Support. The live chat support on this site told me that the bank had "blocked" purchases to my card from Microsoft. After calling my bank, this was not true. The Xbox Store was declining
    my card as though there were no funds in it, even though there were. I've been in contact with a few other people over Twitter with this issue, and they've said the same thing. This is a Microsoft problem that for some reason, nobody is acknowledging. My
    advice would be just to get on the phone and call XBox Support and actually talk to someone.

    Thanks. Trying that now. I can confirm that this has nothing to do with my accounts. AMEX has no block and I'm also trying using my PayPal account which is tied to a different card.

    HELP NEEDED ASAP

    Are you sure that you purchased the full Red Dead Redemption 2 and not just the Red Dead Redemption 2: Story Mode. If you purchased the Story Mode, then you need to own Red Dead Online in order to play it. Story Mode is just DLC for Red Dead Online and cannot be played or installed without Red Dead Online.

    Did you purchase the full game Red Dead Redemption 2 or did you purchase Red Dead Redemption 2: Story Mode, which is an add-on for Red Dead Online? If you purchased Story Mode, then you need to purchase Red Dead Online to keep using the add-on. Story Mode is not a stand alone game. Red Dead Online used to be on Game Pass but was removed back in September.

    Firstly, the retail full version of Red Dead Redemption 2 on disc already includes Red Dead Online so unless you have transitioned to a digital only console, you wouldn't need to purchase it again.
    Secondly, which digital version did you purchase? There is the full game Red Dead Redemption 2. There is also Red Dead Online, which is obviously the online part. And then there is Red Dead Redemption 2: Story Mode, which is just a DLC for Red Dead Online (owning Red Dead Online is required) which allows you to play the single player campaign.
    Please check your purchase history to see which one you have purchased.
