    Can't power off with media remote


    Hi

    I've been using the Xbox One media remote with my One S and a few weeks ago, it stopped registering when I hold a button, while still registering button presses.

    This means I can't turn the power off with the media remote the same way I can with a regular controller.

    I assumed the remote was at fault and yesterday I bought a new one but it now works the same way.

    Anyone else having this problem?

    Xbox 360 New Media Remote

    So I just got the new xbox 360 media bundle that comes with the new black media remote, a wireless controller and a HDMI cord. Everything works fine, except for the media remote. I did what the instructions said to connect the remote to my tv, but the only
    things the remote will do is turn my tv on and off, change the volume, and mute my tv. Is that the only functions that the remote does for my tv, or did i not set it up right? I thought it was also supposed to change the channel and other stuff, too, or does
    the media remote not have more than just the power and sound control?

    I'm having the same problem I hope theirs a update on the horizon soon. Getting up to turn my entertainment system off and on is getting tiresome.

    I've had that happen to me but I just had to change the batteries in the remote. Even though all the buttons would register it just didn't have enough to do the hold down, weird I know but that's how I fixed the problem.

    I've had that happen to me but I just had to change the batteries in the remote. Even though all the buttons would register it just didn't have enough to do the hold down, weird I know but that's how I fixed the problem.

    I have the same problem with Netflix and the media remote. The only buttons that still work are the Xbox home key, and the Play/Pause key. Media remote buttons work fine navigating the Xbox menu so I know it works fine but when using Netflix I cannot FF,
    rewind, skip, select, etc. This started happening after the November update. If I uninstall Netflix app and reinstall it the remote will work fine until I power off the console at night. The next day when I use power up and use Netflix the remote is back to
    not working again. I use energy-save power settings.

    Nezziah,

    Since the update, have you tried power cycling your console by holding the power button for 10 seconds or until the console turns off, then boot it back up, and retry the media remote to see if that fixes the problem.
