    Can't port forward?

Okay, I'm gonna try and make this simple as possible. I just recently bought a new modem/router (Motorola SURFboard SBG6580) after my Belkin, and Linksys took a crap on me so I just went with the modem/router combo just because I've been hearing good things
about it from friends/family. So recently I've had no problems with it at all. It's been running great. Although I went to open a port because apparently COD:Ghosts for the Xbone says my NAT is Moderate, but my Xbone says they're open. So I went to open a
few ports but I can't? I have no option for it, but when I first logged into my router I had the option to do so. :/

What Country/State/Province do you live in? USA, California

Modem brand & model number: Motorola SBG6580

Router brand & model number: Motorola SBG6580

Wired or wireless: Wired (but use wireless when I have to.)

Things you have tried: Reboot, reset, unplug etc.

    Is UPnP Enabled? Yes.

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?

moderate on COD ghosts but open according to Xbone

Any Error Codes you encounter: no

Who is your ISP?(Internet Service Provider): Time Warner Cable

If these help, and this is what it looks like when I go to the "port forward" section

    http://oi57.tinypic.com/2irx0kh.jpg

I also have WPS disabled, If there's anything else you need to know just let me know. I'm lost all my modem/router knowledge because I never needed it until my oldies went out on me.

My firewall is also set to "low" because I have my windows firewall on

Also WAN Connection Type is DHCP, I tried static but I forgot what I was doing and my internet stopped working. lol

    NAPT is enabled.

Anything else just let me know.

    Thanks Can't port forward? :)

    :)

    Can't port forward?

    Hey LOL Dillon

Sometimes port forwarding isn't always listed. In this particular router it should be listed as "Forwarding" in the menu options to the right of the UI. For more info feel free to read one of networking support forum pages about this device.

    forums.xbox.com/.../384869.aspx

Also this is a guide from a pretty good port forwarding website.

Thanks KSI Bambie, but I don't have any of that "forwarding" stuff in that section as showed in the 2nd picture. Can't port forward? :(

Does the rest of the firmware look similar at all, or has it been modified by your ISP?

I don't remember what it looked like by default. Can't port forward? :( Maybe if I set everything back to "factory default" I can see if that works? But I think I'll wait till later to do that. :/

    Can't port forward?

It should look similar to the screenshots from portforward.com

You may want to check the hardware version number of the device.

If you received it from your ISP sometimes they'll develop their own customer firmware for the device.

I'll check the screen shots when I get home. I bought the modem/router myself. Can't port forward? :(

Sounds fantastic, personally I would return it and buy a Motorola modem and a Netgear router for around 160 total. Check those screenshots and compare, if anything, you may be able to DMZ your Xbox which will forward unsolicited data and open almost all
    ports to the Xbox.

Ha, I believe the new firmware has a new way of doing it. I clicked IPv4 and it had all the "forwarding" info there. Which can be seen here:
oi59.tinypic.com/zwev78.jpg I may return this combo modem/router. I'm still confused on if it's a good one or not. :/ I don't want someone else controlling my firmware :[

Actually I think I am gonna return this and go with what you said, and buy the:

ARRIS / Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem

    and

Netgear N600 Wireless-N Dual Band Gigabit Router - Black (WNDR3700)

    Fair enough?

  13. Can't port forward?

If you get a Netgear router , then get a Netgear modem......if you have ANY connection troubles and call for tech support , they just blame each other and say they "cant help you because we didn't make the modem or we cant help you because we didn't make
the router "......been there myself as I had the Motorla / Netgear combo and couldn't get either to help me , took back the Motorola and got a netgear modem.....

I've known Motorola to make great modems, and Netgear to make excellent routers, the WNDR3700 is a solid router. If you ever have connection issues, you are better off calling Xbox Netorking support since they will diagnose if it's the router, or if it's
the modem. Most manufacturer's will only give support for so much and with the Xbox, you're best will contacting the networking support agents who work on it all day.

Sorry for the late response. I ended up returning that modem/router combo and went with the SB6141 Modem (Motorola) and the N600 Netgear Wireless Router. Everything is much better, and have no problems whatsoever. Thanks KSI Bambie, and Bimnog. Can't port forward? :)
