cant play online when using vpn through my computer?

hi! I live at a boarding school where the wifi blocks all gaming sites and features during the school time (steam, xbox, ps4 etc...)

I am currently trying to use a vpn service (safer vpn) through my pc so i can play online on games like sea of thives. i have done this by going it tho adapter settings, rightclicked on the vpn service, clicked on properties, and then put the sharing connection
on and selecting ethernet.

When i start the game Sea of thives it all seams fine, but when i try to get in to a game it says "Failed to connect to the sea of thieves servers. Please check your connection and try again"

I tried to run a network test on the xbox and it says that everything is fine exept when i run the multiplayer connection test it says"there is a MTU problem"

I realy dont know what to do so im very greatful if someone could tell me what to do

I think the VPN has to be through your router/modem and not your PC.

thanks for resonse, but i dont think that is the problem because a friend of mine uses the same vpn provider on his pc to play sea of thives on his pc.

but it wont work when i do it on the xbox...

Is that VPN configured in the same region / country that your Xbox Live account ?

Had this problem in the past but with the VPN I was in a different country and couldn't use live features

Shared networks will always have.mtu issues there isnt much you can do without access to the router

Also connecting to a pc to provide internet access will.always cause mtu issues its too slow runing a non paid vpn will not provide you with a very fast speeds

You should reduce the amount of connections

You have to find your IP and setup ICS correctly

You have to ask your vpn provider if they allow gaming or not on their proxy servers.
