Can't play online on backwards compatible games

My friend seems to be having this issue where he can't play backward compatible games like skate 3 online.

This is what Happens:

- he loads the game and it comes up with the menu saying signing in to xbox and theen he continues

- he then tries to load online and he has the profile menu pop up but his profile isn't there but his brother's is

I have tried looking for him on how to try solving this issue but haven't found a solution so thought i would post here in hope that anyone that has had this issue or knows how to fix it can tell me how to fix the problem so I can tell my friend how to go
about it himself. Considering black ops 2 is now backwards compatible I don't think he will want to suffer any longer lol

No. Although the game disc is backwards compatible, you can't play online anymore with any Xbox 1 game. The original Xbox service was shut down April 2010.

Console ban notification Mw2 xbox one

Hi Jasmine, if it was a console ban, then surely I wouldn't be able to play any game online? Yet I can play all my games other than those that are backwards compatible. Also I can play backwards compatible games on my friend's xbox using my account just
not on my xbox.

Hey ZkAxEliteZZZ! Its best to have your friend post here so we can work directly with them but you should have them try pressing the View and Menu buttons when they're in the Xbox 360 emulator and try recovering their profile from the menu. Thanks!

With backward compatibility such a big thing for Microsoft at the moment I can't see them removing the ability to play those games online.

If it's not backwards compatible (and this game isn't) then no, it won't work. You can view the backwards compatibility list
here. If a game is not on that list, you can't play it on an Xbox One.

Its more than possible, its real. If you've got a game that has multiplayer or co-op and you're playing it online on the Xbox 360 you're bound to have run into an Xbox One player at some point. Assuming the game is something with backwards compatibility
features. The Xbox One runs what's basically a simulation of the 360's UI to play backwards compatible games. However, its impossible to play two different versions of a game. You can't play a title that was released on the 360 and the Xbox One and expect
to be able to play it with the person who has the Xbox One version. So basically you can play 360 games online or offline on the Xbox One but not the other way around.

In short, can you? Yes. Just only on Xbox 360 games that are compatible with the Xbox One.
