Can't play offline unless the console is set as my home xbox?

I have been a faithful Xbox user and gold membership subscriber for many years, since the original Xbox. I just recently started a new job that requires me to travel, so of course I bought a second Xbox One to take with me on the road so that my family could
have an Xbox One at home for their use. Imagine my frustration when I realized that I can't play the games that I own offline unless I set the console that I have with me as my home Xbox, thus not allowing my family to use any online gameplay on my Xbox One
at home. It's not my fault that the hotel that I am staying at is having internet issues. I feel that I should be able to play any title that I own offline, regardless of which console is set as my home Xbox.

    :)

    THIS NEEDS FIXED!

Assuming he is on his "home" console. I have two friends doing the "Set mine to home and I'll set yours to home" sharing feature; when X Box Live is down or they're having problems with their internet...they can't play.

All my games, disc and digital, work offline by using the "Go Offline" feature mentioned by Farscape247; you can find it in "settings".

    Peace, J.R.

The Downloaded Version of Advanced Warfare Won't Play in XB1 if Xbox live is down.

Hi Mongo! Let me ask, have you set your Xbox One as your Home Console? If so, then you will be able to play offline, as well as any other profiles on your console. The License ONLY downloads to the console which is set as your Home Console, which means if
it isn't marked as Home you have to be logged into Live to play the game.

To set it as your Home Console, you'll need to press Menu, then go to Settings, at the left of the screen choose "My Xbox," then choose "My Home Xbox," and select to "Make this my home Xbox." That should download the license to your console and allow you
    to play offline!

I understand your frustration, but that won't work.

Imagine it would work like you want: You could buy a console and a set of games, then sell the console including games to someone else, who uses your console exclusively offline. Then you buy a new console, load it with your games, and sell it off to another
one. Since you didn't have to buy the games again, you could personally profit from the games you sell with the console.

Additionally, many people are now playing games that have only been paid once, and the game publishers wouldn't earn money from the game they made.

So there HAS to be a way to check how many people are using the games you bought and limit that amount of people/consoles.

If you trust your family, you can set your travelling console (that has to stay offline for one reason or another) as the Home Console.

Then, while you're playing offline, your family can sign in on the family console with your Gamertag on a second controller, and that will unlock the games again on the family console, which can be used online.

CANNOT PLAY DOWNLOADED GAMES I PAID FOR BECAUSE OF MICROSOFT TACTICS

You do not need a gold subscription to play games on the Xbox One unless the game states that you do. (Star Wars Battlefront, Destiny, Plants V Zombies Garden Warfare 1 & 2 etc etc). If you want to play the console offline, you only have to go into network
settings and make the console play offline. Remember though that if you do make your console go offline, make sure your console is set as the home xbox, otherwise your digitally downloaded games will not work. For more info on the Home Xbox setting have

Today shows why an online only console should never happen

When the service is back up, make sure you have the console set as your Home. Unless a game is online only, you can still play it offline if your console is set as your Home.

Lorsque le Xbox Live est en panne , tous les gens (comme moi) qui ont une console en mode sécurisé (connexion requise pour faire quoi que ce soit) ont une console complètement bloquée !

    Hi ValentinMARQUES,

The Xbox can be used offline during online service outages. The reason there are issues with playing games offline when the online services are down is because your console is set up to stay online and it will continue to try and connect to the servers as
long as the console is set to be online. You have to manually set your console offline in the Network settings by selecting "Go offline". Your Xbox also needs to be set as your

    Home Console
which should set by default when adding your profile to the Xbox unless you changed it before. If your Xbox is not the Home Console, then you can set it under Personalization found in the system settings, then just select "My home Xbox".

    I hope this helps.

All digital means I can't play a thing

Unless the game is online only, if you have your console set as your Home, you should be able to play offline.
