Can't play my roommate's digital games.

I can't play my roommate's digital games when he isn't logged in. The console is set as his home XBox, and I checked various sites. Everything I read says that should be enough to plays his games, which he has given me permission to do. I can play them with
my account when his is logged in, but he isn't always around to log into his account.

This issue has also happened to me with a game called Fallout : New Vegas and I don't know what to do. Whenever I try to start it, it just tells me that I need to go to the store or check if my disk is in or make sure that your logged in.

 

If the game was downloaded while the console wasn't set to be the home console (i.e. he downloaded it to that console but had another console which was his primary machine) for his account then you won't be able to play his games without him being logged
in.

If the home console setting was changed after downloading games, those games will need to be re-downloaded while the console is set as home which will need him to log into his account to do.

 

Thank you. I'll see about having him redownload the games I want to play when he comes back to the dorm on Monday, but, just to clear, redownloading the games won't affect his save data for those games, correct?

 

No, redownloading the games will not affect his save data, the save data is saved to the cloud, and is not deleted.
