Cant play Minecraft with people who have Xbox one edition

So i purchased mincraft today and it just says minecraft, while my friends have the disk called minecraft xbox one edition, and whenever they invite me to a game it says i have to purchase the game but it says it is not available. what could be going on?

i am currently having issues with minecraft on the xbox one s i have v1.7.0.9 and for this reason I cant play with other people who have v1.6.1 and i would like this situation to be solved pls

My son occasionally uses the Minecraft Xbox One Edition to play with a friend who never switched for some reason. Everything I have discussed is about Minecraft, and not Minecraft Xbox One Edition.

you have to play with friends, the minecraft xbox 360 edition multiplayer servers are only for people on your friends list, ( if you are looking for people to add ) just look through your friends, friends list and see who all is playing minecraft and ask
them, just be social and you will find people

It is up to Microsoft because doesn't Microsoft have to pay Activision for every free upgrade? Then why cant they do the same for people who bought xbox one digital edition?

You cant get pocket edition on console. But their are two versions if minecraft fir xbox one. The xbox one version and then regular minecraft.
