Can't play Minecraft Realms due to how my microsoft account is set up on xbox.com

The issue is in the title; though when i go onto xbox.com, then go to change the relevant settings, they are already set to allowing me to play online multiplayer etc. This has been a problem for a while but really want to setup a Minecraft Realm with my
friends and can't do so because of this.

Would really like some help with this.

how to add child to xbox live without a console so that minecraft realms work?

We're trying to use Minecraft PE to connect to a realm. The child account was created from Minecraft PE on iOS, the account appears under the parent Microsoft account family, but does not appear under the Parent Xbox Live family.

The child was successfully invited to a realm created by the parent, but when the child tries to connect, gets the message "You cannot play on Realms because of how your Xbox Live account is set up. This can be changed in your privacy & online safety settings
on Xbox.com".

However, the child can't change those settings, the parent needs to, but the parent can only change them from the Xbox account view (where, in this case, the child does not show up).

We do not have an Xbox console. We just want to play MInecraft with family and friends on a realm.

Microsoft support says there's no way to add the child without an Xbox console. I wonder why Minecraft PE walked us through creating a child account in the first place?

 

I can't join Minecraft Realms

I can't join minecraft realms because of how my account is set up but I have "Join multiplayer games" and "You can create and join clubs" set to "Allow." I'm also not playing on a child account. Is there any way to fix this?

Thank you for contacting Forum support!

Please make sure there is an active subscription applied for Realms, also make sure all your Privacy settings are set to "Allow/Everybody".

Xbox One online safety and privacy settings for parents and children. try to set the account settings to "Adult" then sign out of the account and sign back in.

Thanks for the reply, i should clarify; I've already tried this method and it has not worked. There is no option to set the account to adult, just being able to allow or deny certain permissions, all of which are allowed already except for broadcast gameplay
and the Microsoft data collection settings. Even when I try to change these permissions to allow and i click submit, once the page refreshes the settings jump back to what they were before i clicked submit.

From my understanding, the account is a child account and does not have adult settings in place, correct?

I would try to
remove then download the profile again. It seems like there may be a glitch with the profile. Also there is the option of trying to adjust the settings for the account on

Xbox settings

As far as I am aware the account is an adult account. I think when it was initially setup it may have been set to child but I'm pretty sure that it is an adult account, how do i go about checking whether or not it IS or ISN'T an adult/child account.

With regards to adjusting account settings, thats what I referenced in my previous reply. Whenever i try to submit altered settings they revert back to what they were before. (The options that are already chosen [what they revert back to] shouldn't be causing
any issues either as all the permissions are set to allow/everyone except for the mentioned few.

Also I should clarify, I'm trying to play Minecraft on the PC (windows10 edition) so re-downloading my profile on the xbox would not help, sorry for the confusion there.

To check the account to see if it is a
child account, please check out this link:
Your family. If the account is a child, there will be a parent set up or the account will state it needs a parental account.

Also, I did see where it was mentioned that the settings will not save once submitting the changes. I apologize for assuming it was an Xbox Console. On the PC, is there a specific error message when trying to play with others?

With regards to the child account, no parent account appears. There is only the option to add family members which i assume means my account is an adult account.

Hi Sal,

I just thought about this when looking for ways to resolve the issue. If it is because friends are unable to be invited, try messaging them the realm link and they should be able to join. Also, yes that does mean the account is an adult account.

If the issue is just getting into realms then try finding an Xbox to use. Sign into the account and adjust the settings from there. I am not saying to buy a console by the way. It would be easier to use a family or friend's console temporarily to adjust
the settings for
privacy and online safety.
