Thank you for your reply and for taking the time to help.

Unfortunately, the steps you described don’t apply to my case. My Microsoft account is set with a birth year of 2000 (so I’m an adult), and I’ve confirmed that I am not part of any Microsoft Family group anymore.

I’ve already checked all Xbox privacy and multiplayer settings at https://account.xbox.com/settings — everything is enabled, but the option “Can play with people outside of Xbox Live” is completely missing from my settings.

Because of that, Minecraft Java Edition multiplayer is still disabled, even though Bedrock multiplayer works fine.

I believe my account may still be incorrectly flagged as a child account on Microsoft’s side.

I will try contacting Microsoft support directly via chat.

I'm sorry you're having this issue with minecraft.

Please try the steps below.

Then select More options > Xbox settings - this will take you to your Xbox account, which is linked to your Microsoft account; from there, go to Online & privacy settings, then choose a child login and the second tab is the Xbox1/Win10 online safety page, where you can allow your child to play multiplayer games (second option from the bottom)

we’ve enabled all of the settings but still can’t play multiplayer. I’m on pc and have tried signing in and out several times, also deleting and redownloading Minecraft to no success. However, multiplayer does work on bedrock, just not on Java. I’ve heard from people that it can take a few hours for the settings to apply so I’m just hoping that’s the case. Thanks a lot though!

For Minecraft Java, you can play multiplayer by either joining a server or creating your own server. To join a server, you'll need to know the server's IP address and port number. To create your own server, you can use software like Minecraft Server.



If you're trying to play Minecraft Bedrock multiplayer, you'll need to make sure that your child has an Xbox Live account and that their account is set up for online multiplayer. You can check this by going to the Xbox website and signing in with your child's account. From there, go to the "Privacy & online safety" section and make sure that "Join multiplayer games" is set to "Allow".



If you've already done this and your child still can't play multiplayer, it's possible that there may be an issue with your network settings or firewall. You may want to try resetting your router or contacting your internet service provider for assistance.
