Can't play Minecraft Java Edition

Hello everyone,

I bought Minecraft Java Edition recently.

Since I bought it I haven't been able to play it at all.

The payment went through, I received a TXID (but no confirmation email?) the game was available on signing in on Minecraft Launcher (demo usually shows if it hasn't been purchased). The game downloads fine, everything seems good.

When it comes to choosing a name for Java Edition it won't let me. On the launcher it comes up with an error; "Failed to create profile.".

On the Minecraft website it doesn't even say that. I press the button and nothing happens at all.

Today Java and Bedrock have been pushed together so if you have one you get the other.

I can play Minecraft for Windows no problem. It loads into the game so this tells me the payment did indeed go through otherwise I wouldn't have got access to Minecraft for Windows. It also tells me the Microsoft account side of things is fine because my Microsoft account forms the authentication for playing the game and is recognized no problem.

I know that Microsoft are migrating user accounts from Mojang to Microsoft so perhaps somewhere something didn't register as it should on the backend?

It even says Player on the right side of 'Play' for Java Edition. It says my Microsoft account for Minecraft for Windows so the game doesn't register any attempt at setting up my name for Java Edition. It seems to be stuck at a state prior to initially setting up my account and won't let me past. Why?

Can't play Java Edition (game I paid for initially) because I can't create a profile both on the website using a laptop and two different browsers (Firefox and Brave) and also a smartphone using a Chrome based browser (Bromite).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

And also if anybody else is having this issue to or similar then it would be nice to know I'm not alone with this annoying problem.
