Can't play games without signing into another account

Mikeysoonerfan is correct. If your stepdad signs into your Xbox and makes it the the Home Xbox, then sets you up on his Xbox. Your Xbox will be the home one with you as primary user, and your stepdads Xbox will be secondary with him as a primary user. Confusing,

As suggested above. Your step dad can make your account his home on your console.

To do this

Have him sign into his account on your console. Go into settings, select general then head over to personalization. Down the bottom there will be my home xbox.

You can have your stepdad make your xbox is home xbox. His live account will be active on your xbox and give you access to most of his games and his gold account. He will still be able to log into his xbox. If he is worried about you messing with his account
he can always password protect it on your xbox.
