Can't play games on two systems in same house?

I recently got my hands on a series X and my son took our One S to his room. I purchase all the games we own on my account. When he goes to play a game in his room I can't even play a different game on the series X because it says I can only be logged onto one machine. Does this mean I have to have games on disk from now on to be able to play two different games in the same household?

Unfortunately, you can only sign in to one Xbox console at a time. If you try to sign in on a second Xbox, you'll be automatically signed out from the first console.

However, you can set your account as home console on your son's Xbox and he will be able to share your games, and subscriptions while signing in with his account.

To do that, please follow the steps below:

Sign in using your account in your son's console.
Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Personalization, and then select My home Xbox.
Select Make this my home Xbox to designate the console as your home Xbox.

Once you do that, he can sign in with his account and play all your games!

Firstly, make sure that your account doesn't auto login on the console in his room. This will keep you from encountering issues being signed in on two different consoles.

Secondly, sign in to your account on his console and set that console to your accounts Home console. That would allow anyone using that console to access games purchased on your account and to utilize any subscriptions tied to your account.

same thing if they just want to play xbox live private game against each other, got to have two copies of the disks?

Your other half would have to set your console as his Home console in order for you to be able to access the games he purchases and vice versa.

Can anyone tell me how to do this please? My other half bought me my own Xbox one so we could play online together. We have two consoles, both with our gamer tags on them and both with the downloadable games installed on them. Lets take COD for example,
my partner loaded his gamer tag on his xbone and I loaded my gamer tag on my xbone but it won't let us p,ay the game at the same time??

Like the original post, we own that game so shouldn't have to buy two copies....what's your secret to get it to work?
