Can't play forza 5

I have just purchased forza 5 today. I have done all the updates it's asked me to. I'm really, really annoyed because I can't play this game offline. I didn't buy my xbox one to play games online as that's why I have a pc. My internet provider has charged
me so much for this huge download and to connect online to play the game. It's so annoying and I'm so angry with the fact I have paid £59.99 for a game that I can't even play. It's says on the box that it can be played offline as it gives the option of xbox
one or xbox live. I know it's only single player for the offline version but I was happy with that when buying it. Since the huge update, I still can't play offline. I have only had my xbox one for four days and I only have three games and yet I can only play
the one game offline. Why don't the staff tell you this when you purchase the goods? If anyone has any ideas on how to play this game offline, I will be very grateful. Thank you

This game is the most online dependent game out for Xbox One right now. There are no bots in the game. You are constantly racing against people's drivatars. This has been known about the game for over 2 months. Also, there is no such thing as truly offline
console anymore. The only thing MS did was get rid of the required check in and DRM. If you are so hung up on offline play except for PC then you are going to be on the outside looking in when it comes to console gaming in the near future.

 

Staff don't think to tell you stuff that nobody thinks needs mentioned. Nobody assumes you're living in 1987. Here in the twenty-first century, at least in major first-world nations, pretty much everyone has online access and even elementary school kids
have cell phones. Internet is just a part of daily life now and it's just assumed you have access.

 

Well, I'm sorry for living "in 1987". Can someone tell me how to stop my provider from charging me for playing Xbox games online?

 

I unplugged the network cable from my router and checked the Xbox One settings to make sure I was no longer connceted to the internet. Then I started Forza 5 and it loaded right up and I was able to still see my garage and play races.

I'm not sure what problem you're having that makes you think you can't play this game offline. In my short test there was nothing preventing me from playing the game online.

When it's starting up, it asks me to press A then it's asking me to connect and sign in. It's looking like this game can only be played online

 

I think it is just asking you to sign into a gamertag. You should not have to be online.

 

It's asking me to sign into my Microsoft account that I'm using now on my mobile to have access to play the game. I've registered it, thinking that's what the problem is but it's still asks me to sign in and connect online. How do I sign into gamer tag without
connecting to the Internet?

 

I just tested and it works perfectly fine offline.

I turned off my router completely.

I covered Kinect so it would not automatically sign in my profile.

I switched on the Xbox One.

I launched Forza and after the 'Press A to Start' screen it asks me who I want to play as.

I highlighted my profile and selected 'Choose this person' after which the game loaded as normal and I was able to play career and free play races.

At no point was I connected to the internet. I'm really not sure what is happening on your console, but you certainly do not need to be online to play Forza.

 

Maybe that's what it might be, my kinect is connected and it's switched on. I might have also done something wrong in setting up my xbox one after the download so I have tried again from factory settings and I will try again tomorrow and see if it will work.

Your problem is nothing to do with Kinect. I only covered it to simulate your problem as mine is set to automatically sign me in, and it sounds like yours is not. I hope you manage to solve your problem. Good luck.

 

Part of the scenario that I cannot recreate is starting the game offline and playing for the first time. Perhaps you are required to connect to the internet for the first few races of the game where your drivatar gets setup. Just a thought - keep us posted
on your progress with this issue.
