As long as it's not a online only game (it should tell you if it is in the games description on the store) then you won't need a gold sub to play any downloaded games.

The only exception is the xbox one games with gold.

Each month gold subscribers are offered 4 free games,2 xbox one games & 2 xbox 360 or original xbox games.

You do need a gold subscription to play the free xbox one games.

PUBG and PES 2019 are free for this weekend and don't require you to have Gold to play online, but only for this weekend.

If you want to continue playing PUBG and PES 2019 after this weekend, then you will have to purchase the games and also subscribe to Gold.

You can still play your purchased games if your gold subscription expires,they're your games after all.

The only time you lose access to any digital content you've bought is if your account gets permanently banned for violating the ToU/CoC.

The program is called Games WITH Gold.

The games in this program are free. You are not paying for them. If you want to talk about ownership issues tied to the service, and why you can't access things you own when not subscribed to Gold... on the new generation of consoles, do that. Check the
ToC you accepted.

But at no point have you paid any money toward the games offered with GWG.
