Can't play any backwards compatible discs on Xbox One X

    Hello,

Whenever I insert a backwards compatible game disc into my Xbox One X I receive an error stating: "Sorry, this game isn't playable here: For a list of Original Xbox and Xbox 360 games that are playable, go to xbox.com/BackCompat (0x8082000c)"

The games I have tried are; Panzer Dragoon: Orta (Xbox), Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (Xbox), Sonic Generations (Xbox 360), NieR (Xbox 360), and FINAL FANTASY XIII (Xbox360). All of these games are listed as backwards compatible. All of these games (except NieR and Star Wars: Episode III which were only just added) I have played on this Xbox One X with these same discs before. According to my achievements, the last game I played was FINAL FANTASY XIII 65 days ago.

Attempting to select the installation of the game I get the message: "Insert game disc: We need that to read the licence. If the disc is already in, check to see if it's dirty or scratched. (0x82d40004)."

All of these discs appear in excellent condition as far as I can see.

I then tried inserting these discs into my Xbox 360 and confirmed that my 360 can read the discs without issue.

Fearing my disc drive may have malfunctioned on my Xbox One X, I tried inserting An Xbox One game (Shenmue I & II), as well as Blu-ray and DVD movies. All of these discs work perfectly fine. But all of my Xbox and Xbox 360 discs will not.

Panzer Dragoon: Orta was the first game I played on my Xbox One X and I have never had any issues like this before.

Digital copies of Backwards compatible titles I have purchased do still work.

    I have tried:

    • Taking the discs out and then inserting them again.
    • Restarting the console by holding down the power button, unplugging it and then plugging it back in and turning it on later
    • Disconnecting and then reconnecting to the internet.
    • Signing out of my account and then signing back in.
    • Attempting to launch the games on another account.
    • Cleaning the discs (even though they already looked clean).
    • Checking for updates (my console is completely up to date)
The only theory I have remaining is that my console is reading the discs correctly, but is unable to authenticate them for whatever reason.

If anybody has any ideas as to what I could do about this I would greatly appreciate it. Backwards compatibility is the reason I bought an Xbox One, and I would love to be able to play my games again. Thank you!

    :)

Planning to buy the Xbox X - But I have a 3 questions

Gold is required to play online on the Xbox. So even if it's a free-to-play game, you still need Gold to play online.

As far as the games you have on Disc, you would not get the remastered ones for free, but if they are backwards compatible you can use the discs to play on the Series X (https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/backward-compatibility?xr=shellnav)
The Series S will not have a disc drive so backwards compatible discs will not work and the games would have to be purchased digitally.

The Batman Arkham Origins Disc is not being read by my Xbox One X

That is certainly strange, especially since the game is backwards compatible. Does the disc work on other Xbox One X's? I would like to think its the disc itself but can't be 100% sure.

Request a refund for a digital purchase

If you are trying to find the game on your Xbox One X that is what the problem is.

The game Remember Me for the Xbox 360 is NOT a backwards compatible game.

Here is a link to a list of games that are currently backwards compatible.

    Backwards compatible list

This is why it is not showing up on your Xbox One X.

Until they put it on that list it will not be able to be played on Any Xbox One

360 games on Xbox one s all digital

You can't as the xbox one digital doesn't have a disc drive.

If you want to play any of your backwards compatible xbox 360 games you would need to buy the digital version

Recently purchased a disc and doesn't work?

If you see error code 0x87e10024 when inserting a backwards compatible disc into your Xbox Series X or Xbox One console:

    0x87e10024

This means that your game disc is compatible, but is having trouble being verified for play. It could also mean that you're experiencing an Xbox service outage, the disc isn't compatible with your console, or there's an issue with the disc.
