Can't open system configuration

Let me quote the steps from the article I shared above:

“Select Search, type msconfig, and then select System Configuration from the list of results.

On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all. Select Apply.

On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.

On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each Enabled startup item, select the item and then select Disable. (Keep track of which items have been Disabled. You will need to know this later.)

Close Task Manager.

On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it will be in a clean boot environment.”

DirectX is part of the OS, it can't be updated manually. There are many different configurations of PC/Laptop, what are your system specs? What game/s are crashing?

I tried this and it didn't work

You can't even watch videos streamed off of your network computers because the video codec/drivers are unavailable in the new system. Did this dashboard update wipe out all the old system configurations and plugins as well?

For Xbox 360, my friend:

Network Reset:

Under My Xbox, open the System Settings application.

Navigate down to Network Settings.

Select your Wireless Network.

Select Configure Network.

Select Additional Settings.

Select Alternate MAC Address.

Select Clear. Wait for the console to restart.

Actually on Xbox 360 you can't Console Reset it because it doesn't allow to keep your games and apps, unless you manually back them up. So try to clear its cache:

Press the Guide button to open the Xbox Guide.

Navigate to the Settings tab.

Select System Settings.

With the System Settings menu open, select Storage.

Select Hard Drive.

Press the Y button to open the Device Options.

Select Clear System Cache.

Select Yes to confirm the operation, then wait for the process to finish.

Restart your Xbox 360, and see if your problems persist, my friend.
