Can't navigate menu due to menu glitch

This started yesterday. This issue happens no matter what controller I use (and I did a hard reset before I tried each one).

When I turn my Xbox one on once I attempt to navigate anywhere on the home menu the Xbox will automatically launch the "manage game and apps menu" and take me to that screen. If I input anything else from the controller it kicks me back to home screen like
I hit the home button, with the "manage games or apps" menu minimized. If I push any button, it relaunches the "manage games and apps" menu, and just repeats thus no matter how many times I do a hard reset, no matter what controller I use. All I am trying
to do is sign into my profile.

Any ideas? I searched this forum, reddit, google, and haven't come across a fix yet.

New controller dragging to right

Hi,

I just unboxed xbox one and I find that the menu is going to right most as if I am dragging the controller to right. I am not able to navigate to left of the menu due to this.

How can I fix this?

While the method above can be used to display the dvd menu it still can't be used unless I'm missing something.

Pausing does indeed bring up the "Player Menu" and I can navigate to the ... then select pop up menu to display the DVD's menu.

However the Player Menu remains open on top and retains focus so the remote does not control the DVD menu and I can't find a way of closing the Player Menu again??

I honestly can't comprehend why they would even think of making a "Media" remote with out a dedicated menu button!!

 

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this.

Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console. Once it is back up and operational test
the results.

Thank you for the response! Unfortunately even though I followed your advice I am still experiencing the issue. Would doing a factory reset be the next option?

My Xbox is set to not have a profile signed into it when it is turned on. When I try to navigate the home screen menus it will tab left once to the menu on the left that allows you to choose a profile to sign in, check messages, ect. But if I hit left again
(it does it both with thumb sticks and d pad) it acts like I hit the A button instead, which kicks me back to the home screen. If I hit right it launches the my game/apps management page. From there if I hit any button, if I do anything, like try launching
an app or game it just kicks back to the home screen like I hit the home button.

This glitch feels like a controller issue but I tried multiple controllers. I did a hard reset (hold xbox power until it shuts dow, unplug for 20 seconds) for each controller used and ran into the problem each time. I also reset the controllers and re-synched
them with the Xbox. Both these controllers have the messenger pad installed on them, I don't know if that would cause this glitch.

My Xbox is a day one edition, could it be an issue cause it's the oldest of the Xbox ones? (I hope not! I love my Xbox!)
