    We recently set up an Xbox OneS, and we can't send messages. We can receive, but cannot send. I've tried to figure out which setting to change, but haven't been able to find anything.

    My Xbox One will not let me message anyone. It takes me to some support options but none of them work, and then if there is still a problem it says to go to the forums. Help.

    I can't message people. Whenever I try, this happens:

    Check your account

    Messaging isn't working for your account. Go to
    http://support.xbox.com/fix-messaging     to get more information and see how you can fix it.

    I go to the site, it says check if I have been banned or something. I have a perfect record there. Then it says if you are good there, then update your security settings. All of them have been updated. I contacted Microsoft and they made me do all sorts
    of stuff that ultimately did nothing. Then at the end they said that its a problem a lot of people are having. I'm getting sick of not being able to message or chat with people. I cant respond to them when they message me. I can't ask for an invite. Nothing.
    Please help.

    Hi there,

    be sure to check the Privacy and Online safety settings at for example
    http://account.xbox.com/settings

    these can be set up to prevent messaging etc. If your account is a child account then the parental account needs to sign in to that link and change the settings for the child account.

    Keep in mind that it is required to sign out of the profile after the settings have changed and sign back in again before any changes take affect.

    Paul from Xbox Forums here to help with the situation, It looks like the send message feature isn't working at the moment for you. If the previous troubleshooting steps haven't fixed the issue one thing we can try to do is also removing and re-adding the
    Xbox profile back to the console. Please let us know if this helped fix the issue.

    Hey Harvey!

    I see you mention that you knew about a ban of some sort. Was it a console ban or an account ban? If you check your account at the
    Xbox Live Enforcement site, do you see any Enforcement actions listed there?

    Additionally, are you having issues messaging people using your console, the Xbox app, or Xbox.com?

    The more information you can give us, the better. :)
