Can't make any purchases with Microsoft Account

Since the changeover to cash instead of points I have had a raft of problems. Overnight I was unable to make any purchases using any payment methods. Several frustrating calls to Microsoft and I was told that it was something to do with my security settings.
After these changes I was then told it would be 30 days until I could make purchases. I waited patiently for the 30 days and I have been able to make card payment purchases. I have rang several times to try and get to the bottom of why I cannot make account
purchases but no one seems to be able to give me an answer. It has now been over 60 days since I raised this and no one has been able to sort this out. Amazing how I can make card payments but Microsoft have money they owe me and yet I can't use it. Very very
poor service and I have been a gold member for 6 years. This will be my final renewal and then over to PS.

I don't own an Xbox 360. Does this mean I can't purchase the game at all?

 

Pre paid code not working

I have entered a prepaid code I purchased a 12 month. I have tried to redeem the code says my billing account is locked and gave me an error called microsoft I have no violations against my acount they have no idea what's wrong with my account. Can't redeem
any code can't make any purchase. Using prepaid. And can't update provacy settings either

What happens when you try and use this Microsoft Account balance or how are you trying to use it. When you go to purchase content, you will see the full price of the item on the
Confirm Purchase screen (Example: $19.99). You Microsoft Currency will be grayed out. You will need to click Confirm Purchase. The next screen will appear asking: “Do you want to apply the $X.XX in your Microsoft account toward this purchase, and
charge the rest to your [card_type] ****XXXX”. If you select No or hit Back, the full amount is charged to the card and the purchase is completed. Otherwise the Microsoft Account balance should be used. Let us know if this helps!

 

When the cost is more than I have in my balance it asks me if I want to use the balance and then charges the full amount to my bank card. If I have enough in my account it comes up with an error code 8012271F. I've spoken to Microsoft several times, updated
my details, gone not forums to try and get tips. None of it has worked and I'm getting totally wazzed off with it all. I just want it sorted but Microsoft don't seem to give a s**t as I go through the same steps every time even though I take down and log through
the same reference number. It's just nonsense.

I tried your method, I have $40 in my Microsoft Account and went to buy a $15 game. When I went to "buy", the only payment option was my credit card. I couldn't find anywhere in the forums that had an answer other than here. When I go here:
Sign in to your Microsoft account it shows my Microsoft Acct and my Credit Card, with the MS Acct listed first. Based on what you wrote above, I clicked "confirm" expecting to have the option to apply
the $15 to my Microsoft Account. It purchased the game and applied the charges to my Credit Card. WTF!!! How can I make purchases for my XBOX 360, using my Microsoft Account? Not much use in having a Microsoft Account balance if I can't use it for anything,
not that I can get it back. GRRRRR!!!!

 

I have the exact same problem. No help what so ever from Microsoft, just some bloke telling me he could try erasing my account and trying again. Not sure they have any helpers that actually have any good advise at MS!

Taking a look at the error code you posted this is what the code links to and what the issue is.

Error code 8012271F: "This may mean that the billing address associated with a payment option in your Microsoft account is incorrect."

"To resolve this problem, make sure that the correct billing address is listed in your Microsoft account for the payment option you are trying to use. If an address is listed, make sure that it is updated and valid."

When you have talked to support on the issue have you asked them to check absolutely everything? This includes such things as declined transactions, the billing information, the billing address set up on the account it self and double check the payment option
information? My guess would be that the card you are using is being declined in the Microsoft system for some reason. Only support will be able to go in and check to see if the card is being declined in the system or if there is a possible fraud lockout on
the billing for the account. Only way to know is to get back with support and make sure they check everything pertaining to your billing.

Hi id really like help right now, I got a email for the past couple of months saying my account is suspended due to payment , ok so I use a debit card & the email says "need to pay for these items" so tell me how I got my add ons if I havent paid for them??
This is your doing I had money on my account n I owe $10 when ive already got the purchase either you let me pay for the items or you stop suspending my account I need more add ons

 

I have the same problem. I have £22 on my account but it will only let me pay by PayPal... I cant remove PayPal as a payment option.

So I bought something assuming it would be taking from the Microsoft account, but no it was taken from PayPal.

What is worse it you look for an email under customer support and it only gives you the forum or twitter.

 

I have this problem too I have £20 but it's faded and when I try to purchase anything it doesn't allow me and gives the error code other payment options work fine just not microsoft account

 

I have the same issue. $15.50 in my account but it won't even give me the option to use my account as a payment option. Seems that Microsoft needs to get their s**t together before they lose all their customers. Not too happy with their customer service

 

I am also having this issue. I recently redeemed a $15 prepaid gift card, and tried to use it to make a $14.99 purchase. Obviously, there was more than $0.01 tax, but I was never offered an opportunity to carry-over any portion of the charge to another billing
option - it only said there was insufficient credit, and then prompted me for an alternative method. Can't figure out how to put money on the account (I'd have been happy to put the $1.05 on the account first and net to zero), nor can I figure out how to spend
the money on there without leaving a permanent balance.

 

This is the worst service I have ever encountered. Firstly the brand new xbox one failed after just two days of use and is now with UPS going to the check republic, and we will have to wait about 3 weeks to get it back. But this morning we applied a the
code for a prepaid DLC for advanced warfare season pass. it took the £35 straight into the Microsoft Account then when we tried to apply it to the download it took it out of my paypal account speechless is not the word as of now I have paid £70 for a season
pass. I need to access the £35 in the microsoft account please its my money not yours !!!
