Is all your ports open?

I sence you saying they never have, but for the best gaming experiance these must be open.

These ports must be open for Xbox Live to work:

• Port 88 (UDP)
• Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
• Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
• Port 80 (TCP)
• Port 500 (UDP)
• Port 3544 (UDP)
• Port 4500 (UDP)

It could be that your account is connected to the aerver that is having problems at the moment.

If you wait an hour or two, your account will be on a different server and things should be back to normal for you.

Try all the above and let us know if your still having problems.

One I suggest performing a
power cycle on the console as well as troubleshooting the network. Please let us know how it goes.

First make sure you haven't received any suspension, you can do this by entering this site: https://enforcement.xbox.com and by checking if you have Xbox Live Gold subscription active on your profile.

I have no reason to have an enforcement ban on me. Could it be because my Live subscription is up? But even then, I can't buy Microsoft points on my console. It says its down.

As stated above please hard reset your console by pressing the power button for a few seconds until the console turns off. Unplug all the wires. Turn off your router for 5 mins and turn eveything on again. And plug the wires in again.
