Can't login to Xbox live on console after resetting password.

Hey all...my son tried logging into his Xbox live account several weeks ago, but we we got a message to verify email and password. Password and email did not work. Apparently, we were locked out because he did not do this within a two week period. I
reset the password on my computer and am able to login on my PC, but we cannot login on the console. The password works on the website but not on the console. Message says "That email and password didn't work. Try again or use you app password...." We
are at a loss as to what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated as my 10 year old's membership runs out in April. Thanks!!!

Hi, I've been having trouble signing into my other Microsoft account on my Windows 10 PC.

This is a new account so I don't have any of my purchases that I have on the other account but it repeatedly says I have the wrong password

I went through the password reset process and changed the password but it still tells me I'm putting in the wrong password and won't let me login.

I've tried on several devices and I can't login on any of them.

Is there a waiting period before the new password updates or is there something else wrong with my account?

I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue, but let's see what we can do to help.

Usually when you successfully change your password, it sends you confirmation that it was indeed changed.

Did you get a confirmation email?

There is no waiting period for your password update to go through, it should be instant.

If it's not going through on your devices, I would try it on a different network.

Try it while connected to another network and let us know if that helps resolve the problem

My experience with this issue usually is the result of one of two scenarios..

first... password still not strong enough for console or does not meet current password requirements.

(personal experience has also led me to believe that if you start your password with a symbol, the xbox will kinda hiccup.. lets you sign in, but then boots you immediately,)

second scenario.. you have two step verification turned on.

easy way to fix.. go to accounts.live.com , sign in with email and password, go to security info on the left, prove you own that account then select security info again and see if the two step security is turned on.. if it is .. TURN IT OFF and in the upper
right hand corner click on the name/pic and chose sign out on the drop down menu. go to console and try logging in again if that doesn't work go to your social page on the dashboard and click sign in/out, go all the way to the right and try downloading your
gamertag again.
