Can't login to primary account, but can login to alternate?

So about a month ago i had to reinstall windows 10 due to some issues, mostly regarding something breaking that disallowed me from playing about half of my steam games. After the reinstall that worked fine, however now im blocked from logging into my Xbox
account, so i cant talk with friends or play xbox games...

I get the message :We couldn't sign you in to Xbox Live; We can't sign you in to Xbox Live right now. Try again in a while. If that doesn't work, we have a few ideas that might help fix the problem." Error Code: 0x80070520... clicking the code directs me to
the xbox code support with 0 results. Clicking More Info sends me to Bing with some generic fixes, all of which i tried and nothing works. However, i had absolutely no problem logging into my alternate account, worked right off the bat!

I know one solution is probably "reinstall windows", but seriously... how many times do i have to reinstall windows 10 before things work properly? Since W10 was released, i've reinstalled literally over a dozen times on just this one computer, and every single
reinstall, something else breaks. So is there ANYTHING else at all that i can at least try to make this work with?

Cannot use forums on primary account - Runtime Errors while signed in

Im having the exact same error. Cant login from my primary XBL account (Supanaut) but can login from this one (which is attached to my Family Gold account)? Frustrating as I need to contact the rewards team as I renewed my Gold Family and never received
the reward points :/

i have to register my bf4/commander to my live account.. i did my login from my primary email.. so i may be able to claim 3 battlepacks i will try this week when i go food shopping.

Select System.

Select Apps & features.

Login to the microsoft.com ,. Login With the user account associated with your xbox .

go the account setting in the microsoft profile. update the account info/ add a new email.

and then verify the email. by login at whatever email. you have to use/ after you confirm the link.

go back to microsoft login . make your confirmed email the primary .. erase the other one that was the main. add your cell phone on the account for future help with logins. or another source for a two step verifiication... it is a option. u must login dekstop
/laptop perferably, it will not matter what address at dot com you have for email. just make it a primary as long as your credentionals of age expectaion is 18 as adult account holder. you may need to change birthday. update the profile.

Unfortunately this guide is only working with the Xbox 360 but not if you only own a Xbox One.

If you only have a Xbox One you can go to
http://account.live.com and add the email address used for the Windows login there. After you deleted the account the email address and the Windows login are bounded to you can set it as primary email address in the account the gamertag is bounded to.
Then both logins are identical.

Go to http://account.live.com login, and click on account alias. From there you can add a different email address to be your primary contact email for your account
