Can't login into my account when I play Xbox 360 games in Xbox one

If you are just simply trying to add a profile you had on your Xbox 360 to your Xbox One, you can do so by just putting in the login information for that account on your Xbox One.

The problem is that I never linked my xbox 360 to my xbox live account, and now it don't want to. So I'm trying to link my xbox live account to my xbox 360, but all I get are error messages.

My account is linked to my xbox one without any problems, but in order to save xbox 360 game data on my xbox one, I have to download my/a xbox 360 profile, which I can't do because my profile won't connect to xbox live.

Usually I would just play my 360 games on the xbox 360, but unfortunately my xbox 360 can't run games due to a hardware malfunction.

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are experiencing difficulties with being able to sign into your Xbox 360 profile.

Under normal circumstances, you would be able to
remove your account, followed by
clearing your Xbox 360 storage by using these steps:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
   
2. Select System > Settings > System > Storage.
3. In the left column, select:
   • Clear local Xbox 360 storage.

You would then re-download your profile and then launch an Xbox 360 title and it should download your profile without additional inputs.

However, if this does not work, then you would be forced to lower the amount of character you have in your password in order to use this profile.

I'm sorry about any confusion or turmoil this might have caused.

I followed the steps above but the profile with my old gamer tag still remains there. Any idea why it's not deleting it? Or is changing my password with fewer characters my only option?

It worked, I just had shutdown my Xbox one. Thanks for the help.

Just login with the same account you use on your 360 to Xbox One, and open the game. When you start the game your profile will be synced. Make note that you can only play those Xbox 360 games on Xbox One that are backwards compatible.
