Can't log into Xbox App; Can't receive code

As the title says, I can't log into my Xbox App (or it seems, potentially other Microsoft "apps" from the store). If I try to log in, it says it will email the code to my microsoft account (@live.com email), but I never receive the code. I do have access to that email and can recevie a code in other contexts, for example, if I try to log into my Microsoft account on my browser (though even that only partially works, see bullet point below). Here's what I've tried to no success:

1. Restart computer

2. Update windows

3. Uninstall and reinstall Xbox app.

4. run the app troubleshooter for the Xbox App

5. "repair" and "reset" the Xbox app in settings

6. wait multiple days and try again

7. Add my @live.com email as a "recovery email" for the same @live.com Microsoft account. I noticed that in "Security" on my Microsoft account, I only have my phone number and @gmail.com email account under "ways to prove who you are". I thought I would see if I could explicitly add my @live.com to that list even though I realize that's logically circular (i.e., a recovery email address for the same email address), but even though I receive a code to that @live.com email address when I try to do this process, once I enter the code it spits back an error stating that there's a "temporary problem" and to try again. Regardless, this shows that I can receive Microsoft codes to that @live.com address.

What do I do? This is incredibly frustrating.

Thanks for the reply. It's only through the app (Xbox and Microsoft store seem to both have issues). I can log into my account on a browser with no issues. And yes, I've checked junk/spam.

Hello Nick, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

I see you're having trouble logging in. Is this with all sites or just with the app? You can try logging in on using an Incognito Window for this test. If you believe this to be an issue with your account though your best bet would be to start an online chat with support via https://support.xbox.com and click on Contact Us.

Also, when looking for your code be sure to double check your junk/spam folder just in case.

Different code but same problem. Can log into Xbox.com fine but can't log into Xbox One, Windows 10 Xbox app, or the Mobile app. Keeps asking for password over and over and over...

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far, such as reinstalling the Xbox app?

I tried every way you told me but the problem remains.

Answers for your questions:

1. No, only Windows Security.

2. Yes, I am using my own home connection.

3. Yes, Microsoft Store is working properly and I can download other apps or games.

4. Nope, a black window on a white background opens up for a second and closes itself instantly.
