can't leave family

May I ask what seems to be the problem with why you wanted to leave the family group? Are you having trouble with your privacy and account settings?

If you're the only one on the family group it means that you don't have one but if you're still a minor you need to ask your parents to create their own Microsoft account and add you as a member under their family group.

This particular feature doesn't require access to the e-mail account itself. The account can still be logged into on our
account page. But ngocphi is correct that your stepfathers account would need to be accessed to change this features settings. Happy gaming!

his email being active has nothing to do with his parental ms account

He has to signin at accounts.microsoft.com

If he forgot the password he has to work with them to reset it

We understand that you are trying to add your son into your family group and was unable to because he is already part of one. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner.

Since, you have already performed the steps provided on how to leave a family a member should do. To better isolate the issue, we will be asking few questions:

1. May we ask for the screenshot of the error message? Please conceal any personal information.
   
2. May we ask if your son is signed in here- Microsoft Family Safety, do you somehow recognize the Organizer of the family he was added to?
   
   (If you were unable to locate the Organizer, please scroll down and look for Find your family and scan the QR Code using your mobile phones.)
   
3. Just to confirm, does your son have issues with signing into the account, purchase, screen time limit and play certain games?

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

If you're the only one on the family page and you're still a minor, you need to ask an adult or your parent to add you as a member via https://account.microsoft.com/family under their account in that way, they'll be the one managing your settings.

Once they have added you as a member, ask them to sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings then click your Gamertag and then make sure that the setting that has an arrow on this screenshot is set to "Allow".
