Can't launch or update games from ext HDD

    Can't launch or update games from ext HDD


    Hi there,

    I bought a Xbox game drive (Seagate 2tb) and a couple of games yesterday.

    Both games installed ok but neither game launches or updates after installing .

    One of the games did run but only when I was offline.

    Can someone offer a solution to this please?

    I have already tried power cycling and also clearing my local saved games from settings as I read online and it made no difference.

    It seems to be the ext hdd the update has a problem with. Do this. Remove ext hdd, you won't be needing it for a few hours. Next reboot then preview app should be under ready to install. If not hold power down for 10 secs and reboot. Try again and install
    a small game everything should install no problem on internal. At this point your xbox should be working normal except you can't use ext hdd, but don't worry about that at some point later today you'll get an update. Then you can plug in hdd and everything
    should be fine

    Game update.

    Is the game installed on your Console HDD or an Ext HDD? I had issues before with games that were originally installed on the console and then moved over to the Ext HDD

    Have you got an external drive connected to the console?

    If so, after powering down, disconnect Ext. HDD and power cord from the console for a minute or two then power the console back up without the Ext. HDD and see how that goes.

    Any ext. hdd will work as long as it supports usb 3.0. I'm using a Seagate Backup Plus 2tb ext hdd and it works great!
