Can't Join Minecraft Realm

Hello,

I am currently running the Java and Bedrock version of Minecraft and trying to join a realm. I have been added to the realm, but I am unable to join. When I try to enter Minecraft realms, it prompts me to either start a free trial or make a purchase to access realms. Is this correct? I was under the impression I should be able to join the realm without making a purchase as long as I have been invited.
