Cant invite anyone to a game on xbox one.

Everytime I try to invite a friend to a game, the option is gray and wont let me click it or anything. The network is fine as I have managed to play on roommates xbox one live account no problem. I also checked the NAT status of my xbox one and it says
open. The privacy settings are also completely allowed and enabled but I am still having this problem and don't know how to proceed. It is an account issue.

Sorry for the issues, there may be other issues that are network related, or perhaps the the notifications are not on for your room mate.

I suggest following the network trouble shooting link, or attempt to power cycle the consoles

Usually when I get this bug/error I navigate to my Network Settings and from there go to Advanced Setting and proceed to Alternate MAC Address and click on clear and once my console restarts it always works for me

Some games are switching up to use their in-game invite system which is why the option you seek isn't availble. Try looking for the in-game invite system to invite/join your friends.

We have attempted a few different games. Minecraft, injustice, etc but when I go to the home screen and scroll left to multiplayer, the join or add to party option works fine but on my end the join or invite to game option is grey. On their end its fine
and I have tried power cycling but still no luck. When I added for the injustice game in a certain way that worked but kinda strange how the actual option is grey still.
