    Can't install games on Xbox app (PC) 0x80070490


    Everytimes I try to install games from Xbox (PC) or Microsoft Store always get error code 0x80070490

    This problem has persisted for a week while my drive spaces are plenty enough

    What's not working

    1. installing and updating games via Xbox app and Microsoft Store

    What's working
    1.installing and updating games via EA app, Ubisoft connect
    2.installing and updating other apps via Microsoft Store except xbox game pass games
    3.playing installed games

    The fixes that I tried and none of it works

    - Reboot PC

    - Change installation drive

    - Repair / Reset Xbox app and Microsoft Store

    - Re-login Microsoft Store and Xbox app

    - Uninstall Xbox app and reinstall it

    - Uninstall and reinstall gaming service

    - Clear cache with WSreset

    - Disabled, uninstall antivirus (Sophos)

    - Checked for windows update

    - Ran SFC, DISM

    I had the same issue and I did a lot of things to try and fix it. I even contacted Xbox Support on X / Twitter. But it eventually led to the same thing, resetting my PC and that fixed the issue. I went the route of keeping the files in reset and that worked.

    I reset(reinstall) Windows via recovery and the problem is fixed.

    Most often, error code 0x80070490 occurs while updating Windows or installing updates using KB file. This could be caused by Windows cumulative updates which are preventing Windows from installing new updates. Run System File Checker (SFC.exe) to scan for and fix corrupted files:
    Simultaneously press the Windows + X keys;
    In the options that appear, click on Command Prompt (Admin);
    At the Command Prompt screen, type SFC /SCANNOW and press Enter (this procedure will take a few minutes).
