    Can't install games on PC - 0x00000001 error


    Background

    I've previously had the Xbox Game Pass installed with a few games. About a year later (present), I decided to install again but for some reason when I tried to download Forza, only my C Drive (OS Drive) appeared. I tried a bunch of fixes and eventually got it to see my D Drive when choosing where to install the game. However, during my fixes, I also deleted the WindowsApp - I remember unlocking it for some reason when I played last year (but don't remember what).

    Current Problem

    When I try to download a game now, it would go to the Install Queue but stay stuck at 0% and then eventually show the 0x00000001 error message. I don't know how to fix and have tried a bunch of things. The WindowsApp is still gone and I don't know how to get it back - I suspect this may be the problem and my only option is to format the drive?

    - Open Windows 10 File Explorer (Windows + E), locate and right-click on the USB drive, select "Format".

    - Set the NTFS as the target file system, tick "Quick Format" and click "Start" to start the formatting.

    - When the process completes, click "OK" to confirm.

    Afterwards try to use it again.

    I can't. My C Drive only has enough space for OS and a few programs.

    So when i install the app and restart it goes back to my original issue of only detecting C Drive. I am not able to install on D Drive.

    Before formatting the drive, Try reinstalling the Gaming Services app on your Windows 10 device:

    - Right-click the Start button in the lower-left corner of the main screen, and then select Windows PowerShell (Admin).

    - In the Administrator: Windows PowerShell screen, type the following command and press Enter:

    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

    - In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:

    start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

    - Install the app on that page, and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.

    - Restart your device, and try to install the game again.
