Can't install anything on my alternate drive from xbox app

Do me a favor, on your hard drive there is a folder called ''WpSystem'', take ownership of the folder and rename it to ''WpSystem.old'', save and try downloading the games again.

If the problem persists, go to settings>system>advanced storage settings and click ''where new content is saved'' and try to change where new apps are saved to your hard drive and save and try downloading games again.

I unplugged the external hard drive and did a powercycle... but I still can't see any of my games or apps, and I can't re-install them from the store.

In your Games and Apps it should be listed under Ready to Install. You would redownload it from there.

Ok, still not working...

But I tried something else to try to identify the problem, I added an extra hard drive to my computer, and I can select this one for game installation in the xbox app.

Is there anything that prevent the games to be installed on a mechanical hard drive rather than a SSD? I guess there is something different on this SSD and the HDD i'm trying to install games on.

NB: I can't use this SSD for games, I just use it to do a test.

I’ve disconnected the external drive and done a full reset deleting all apps and games. Even with a completely clean system installing straight onto the internal disc it’s installing apps, store, console updates fine but anything from ‘games’ just come up
as installation stopped immediately.

I’ve just done it and tried an old game i’d purchased as the first thing to try and download and install and immediately ‘Installation stopped’. So it isn’t Pro Evolution Soccer it’s anything from ‘Games’

Other apps like Netflix install perfectly so it doesn’t make sense that the hard drive is corrupted.
