Can't install any game on one of my HDD

Hello,

For a week now I can't install any game on one of my HDD . The hdd itself is working just fine and I was using for games . I had tor re-install my windows the last week and now I can't use my biggest HDD . I can install games on my SSDs . I tried every solution that I found online . I tried contacting support in several different ways but it turned impossible . When I request a phone call back I'm getting error message saying that the problem is on their end (brilliant , support needs support) . The chat that is suppose to be available 24/7 is just non existent . I was expecting a bit more that amazon support service level from Microsoft but.....

Anyway the error code that I'm getting is 0x80073d0d . I tried looking that online as well , as the support FAQ page suggested . No results what so ever .

Any help will be highly appreciated as I want to play the games that I'm paying for .

Thanks for the extra info

Just to double check, the desired drive is selected to install new apps via Windows settings > system > storage > advance storage options (only W11) > where new content is saved ?
If not, please do it. If yes, try installing an app or game available in the Microsoft store first (in case you're using directly the Xbox app)

After that, if you're able to install the app/game. Check if the Xbox app lets you install a new game

Hi ,

This actually worked . I never had this problem before and my M.2 SSD was always my windows install folder and I installed in that HDD without changing anything . Plus I have one more SSD which I also use without setting it as default installation drive . Hope I will still be able to use the other two drives when the game needs to be on a faster drive . If not I know what to do now at least .

Hi Greg, glad to know that selecting the drive there did the trick for you
You should be able to select the drive that you want know
But if you face a similar issue in the future try changing that setting again temporarily

Hello Josef,

Thanks for your replay . I didn't formatted the HDD but I re-install my windows about once per year and I never do . This is my pictures , music , etc. HDD . Basically staff that needs keeping . Thing is I have steam games installed on it and Steam was able to locate them and I can still play them . I never had problem because of not formatting my HDD . This is not where windows is installed . I tried the other steps that you suggested , but it didn't work . Any other ideas ???

Just to confirm, did you not formatted that HDD after the windows reinstallation?
If not, maybe that's the thing causing conflicts

Are you able to see the XboxGames or WindowsApps folder inside this drive?
If yes, try deleting the folders permanently

If you're not able to do that, try this to see if you can use the drive again:

Press Windows + E and go to the desired drive

right click on the XboxGames folder first (then WindowsApps) and select properties > Go to the Security tab and select Advanced:

Click on Continue in the Permissions tab > Select Change > Click Advanced in the Select User or Group window, then Find now:

Select your user account and click on Ok > Click on Ok and Apply on every window and close them.
Restart the PC and try deleting the folders permanently now
