Can't Hear Voices In-Game

Hi. I'm having problems with my Xbox One. With certain games, (Halo MCC, Forza Horizon 2 and Far Cry 4 to name a few) I'm having trouble hearing voices in-game. Now let me explain.

Sometimes in Halo MCC and Far Cry 4, I can barely hear the voices of characters if there is little noise in the game at the time (music, sound effects). But the majority of the time, I cannot hear character's dialogue in the game. But I can hear music/sound
effects fine. This is very annoying as I have to use subtitles and I might miss some of the story because I can't hear.

I can't hear any voices in Forza Horizon 2. BUT I can hear the DJ on the radio...

What's wierd, is that sometimes I can just about hear the characters talking, even if my TV volume is up at a good level. I can also hear people online talking through their mics perfectly.

I noticed this problem started in the Forza Horizon 2 demo. It has carried on the every game I have bought since.

Any solutions?

Audio sounds "canned" when playing video, but fine in games

I'm having a related problem. My games, Xbox Music etc... sound fine. However, when using Xbox Video, Netflix etc... I can't hear any voices. I can hear background noises and music, but no voices.

 

Can't hear my own voice messages

hi. I've been encountering problems with my voice messages. When I go to check them to make sure they are good enough to send, I can't hear them at all. Nothing whatsoever. I also have this problem with party chat. I can't hear them but they can hear me.
My communication settings are set to Everyone. I've reset my console three times, changed my headset and even tried resetting my controller

Can I ask how you are listening to your audio, Jack? I ask because, depending on the company, the audio is handled in different ways. For example, some companies use the Center Channel on surround sound signals to put out the voices, so if the center channel
has gotten turned down (or if you've chosen the wrong output format in settings) then the game will be trying to play audio on a channel that you don't have hooked up. Say you're listening on a stereo set of headphones, or even just on your TV speakers. If
you set the audio to 5.1 surround, you'll hear SOME audio, because the right and left channels will just be a mix of the different right and left surround channels. But since there is no center channel on a stereo setup, the system will send audio to that
center channel, and your system won't be able to play it. (So, if the audio is directional, any time the voices should be coming from the center speaker, you wouldn't be able to hear them very well.)

You might try setting your audio to Stereo instead of 5.1 or 7.1? It might not be the problem in your case, but it is a possibility worth checking!
