I apologize for my snippy response, but it's due to all of the recent aggravations with Microsoft products. I mysteriously was able to join a voice chat a few minutes ago and actually hear my friend contrary to the previous countless attempts. What I find
even more remarkable about this instance is it is working even though Xbox Live is experiencing difficulties. But the question comes to mind could it be related to not having the Xbox Console Companion app running thereby allowing a successful connection via
Game Bar? Every other failed occurrence the Console Companion app has been active.

As MereHydraO stated it's not a problem with OUR mic - they can hear us just fine, however we are unable to hear any of them. I have no problems when I start the party with Xbox Console Companion or using Xbox Party when streaming. It seems when I get an
invite the only choice is through Game Bar. It seems silly to have multiple applications all trying to do the same thing. We now have Xbox(Beta) added to the mess. Everything was just working fine using the Console Companion app, but in typical fashion Microsoft
isn't satisfied until they change everything until it no longer works properly or simply.

Is there any chance someone will address the issue without asking irrelevant questions or make us create new user profiles?

Based on your description, you can hear the music and sound but not the voices. There could be an issue with compatibility, third party apps that has settings for audio or system/apps/drivers needs to be updated or could be anything related to the headset that is disabling specific sound to be outputted. To have a better understanding, we would like to further isolate your concern.

1. May we ask what is the make and model of your headset?
   
2. When was the last time you can hear a voice from these apps or services - Discord or Skype or games? .
   
3. Are we playing Xbox games or different storefront games?
   
4. Is the driver for the audio up to date? We will provide steps on how to update the system and apps below, please check.
   
5. Test if these works. May we know if the issue persists when:
   
   • Connecting the controller and headset, go to audio settings and output the audio through PC speakers.
     
   • Connecting the headset to PC and output audio to headset.
     
   • Connecting the headset to PC and output the audio to PC speakers.
     
   • Connect different headset to PC.
     
   • Connect different headset to PC and output the audio to PC speakers.

I have adjusted my audio I don't know how many times and still nothing. The most I have is when they speak they say they hear a echo of what they are saying coming from my mic.
