Can't hear Netflix / Amazon voices through headset

I just purchased a new headset and adapter (Polk Striker Pro ZX) and can't hear the main (likely center) channel audio through the headset when listening to Netflix, Amazon, and some games.

The XBox is currently hooked up with HDMI to my TV and it is set to output bitstream (Dolby Digial) audio over the HDMI. The optical cable is not connected to anything. From what I've read, the XBox should be downmixing all of the audio it sends to the wireless
headsets, but this doesn't seem to be happening. Are there specific settings I need to set to make this work?

I've tried setting everything to stereo in both the XBox's audio settings and in Netflx and that didn't change anything. Am I correct in assuming that the downmixing to stereo happens in the XBox and not in the headphone stereo adapter? If so, it seems unlikely
it is an adapter issue.

Cannot hear voices through headset

Same here.. Can hear me talking through mic, but can't hear them. I get the beeps as well when turning up volume.. Once I unplug headset - voices come through my speakers.

Only really thing that you could do is plug a headset in while playing so that their voices go through that but not wear the headset so you can't hear them

I just double-checked and the issue occurs with games as well. Playing Tomb Raider I couldn't hear a lot of the dialog.

I'm having a similar problem with Netflix, Xbox Video and Amazon Video. I can hear background noises, music etc..., but no voices!

BUT . That said. if it's like the 360 headset (which I believe it is) it's a communication headset only. To hear game sounds and voice through the headset you'll need to get a 3rd party headset.

Just bought a pair of Turtle beach XO4. Thought they were faulty because I couldn't hear my own voice through the headset. You can hear other people and game sound and other people can hear you. But have been used to mic montoring through a set of triton
detonator headset for the older xbox 360, I find it disconcerting when my own voice sounds so muffled. Think I'm going to send them back to amazon and wait for Microsoft / Turtlebeach , whoever to address this issue.
