Can't hear friend In party chat?

Was playing earlier and chatting without any issues. Jumped back on later and now I can't hear my friend in chat?

Get a message about privacy settings but everything is pretty much set so that everyone can communicate with me.

Any advice?

Friend being offline though he is actually on

My other friend can hear and talk to both of us just fine in the party but i can't hear my friend and he can't hear me

hi I recently just got off a one day suspension ban for communication and now since it's been over I can't hear anyone in party or game but they can hear me can you please help me ?

Hello.

First of all, check if there is

anything muted on your console,

your controller batteries aren't low,

your headset is connecting right,

your headset is working well (you can test in the skype app by calling Test service),

And if it is still not working i check your connection and test it. Also check your NAT type! If it is moderate or strict you may have the issues in partys because of this.

Some solutions that can fix the problem:

Connect to your modem/router directly by wifi or by cable.

Povercycle your console. (Here is some info how to do it: support.xbox.com/xbox-one/system/power-cycle-console )

It could be a NAT issue. You can check your own NAT status from the network settings under advanced section. If your NAT is Moderate or strict and your friend's is, this can cause issues with connecting to other people online.

I recommend using a method that I tend to use and have proved useful, join the party with the friends you are trying to talk to them, if you cannot hear them block everyone in the party and unblock them.

if you wish to be 100% sure restart your xbox after that, this worked for me 100% of the time and have proven to work with other people who complained about this issue on the main chat.

Hey there!

Perhaps check out the volume settings?

Press Xbox button > Speaker on bottom right, and then play with the volume settings,

I believe its the same when you go to the party, audio options.

Let me know if this helps?
Also if your headphones have a volume feature, sure to see if that's all the way up,

also if you have the "In game - party" feature on the headset, sure to hit the in between so you can hear both. (My razor has that feature and it's easy to forget lol)

It might be the headset chat mixer, the issue.

Hit the xbox button on the controller > drag right to settings > click on audio > it will open three options for you to adjust the volume.

The first leave at max.

The second is "headset chat mixer" leave in the middle to hear both console and chat sounds or all the way to the left on the control symbol to hear only console sounds (music, games, etc.).

And the third, at your discretion, is the microphone volume.

Thanks for the insight. I've tried them all and none have helped. It's just the weirdest thing. I can hear them completely fine in game chat, but not for party chat :-(

If you can’t hear your friends in party chat, please try these tips:

Check that your privacy settings allow communication with everyone. Press the Xbox button to open the guide and select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy. Select View details & customise > Communication & multiplayer, and then make your changes.
Check the party chat volume for each person in your party. Press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then select Parties & chats. Select the party to expand the party roster, choose the person you want to check, and then verify that their volume slider is at a level that you can hear. To change the volume level, move left or right using the D-pad or the left thumbstick to adjust the volume slider.
Also, you will need to check your current NAT type. To do this:
1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings.
3. Under Current Network Status, the NAT Type field displays your current NAT type.
You need your NAT type to be Open to resolve this issue. You also want to make sure there are no errors such as Double NAT detected or UPnP not successful displayed.
