    Can't get xbox360 wireless pc controller to work...


    First, I want to say that there is most likely something very simple that I need to or should have done.

    win 10 laptop is 6 mo. old 64 as maxed as I could buy it

    So, I plug in the usb receiver, the light comes on on receiver and controller. On the controller, it's the correct light, upper left light, one controller connected.

    Then I open xbox accessories. It says 'connect a controller to get started'. The controller IS connected! I push buttons on the controller. I am able to see the left joystick and the 'a' button working on the xbox accessories app. But the app doesn't see
    the controller. I press the start button on the controller and I see the app do the windows **** in a circle thing. then nothing.

    My ultimate goal is to be able to use the controller to play games. I have been trying for a few months to get this done. Then I get too frustrated with it not working and put it away for a month.

    PS: I ended up downloading an app called xpadder and was able to get the controller working (sort of) with neverwinter, so I know the dang thing works.

    I could really use some expert advice. Thank for your time.

    re connecting my controllers to xbox360 console

    This is the issue, I have games that I play on my pc so using my Xbox controllers with Microsoft Xbox360 wireless reciever for windows, I'm on win8 they work find on windows8 but trying to swith them back to work on my Xbox360 console the controlles wont
    connect, do anyone have a answer.

    Paul from the Xbox Forums Team here to assist with the issue, it looks like you're trying to get a Xbox 360 controller to work on your pc. How is this controller connecting to your PC? Is it a wired controller or wireless controller? If it's a wireless 360
    controller there is a wireless dongle that would be needed to have the controller work on PC. Please let us know.

    controller there is a wireless dongle that would be needed to have the controller work on PC. Please let us know.

    Xbox controllers for windows 10

    The Bluetooth controllers don't come with an adaptor, is has Bluetooth built in. The device it connects to need to have Bluetooth to work, if your PC doesn't then you need to get a Bluetooth adapter for the PC.

    The wireless part of the controller works on a unique frequency only for the xbox controllers, so it won't work with WiFi, so for your PC to use the Xbox Wireless part, you would need the Xbox Wireless Adapter.

    Here is how I understand the whole headset compatability works (maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong):

    GAME AUDIO

    If your headset gets the game audio via a box linked to your gaming machine via optic audio out - this audio will continue to work as designed, as the xbox One has optic out as well.

    CHAT AUDIO

    If your headset gets the chat audio via a direct bluetooth wireless link to the xbox360 machine - then this headset will not work with chat audio on the xbox One.

    If your headset gets the chat audio wireless via a bluetooth puck that plugs into the 360 controller (not a direct wireless link to the gaming machine) -then this may work with the xbox One depending on how the forthcoming adapter works with next gen controllers.

    If your headset gets the chat audio via a cable directly connected to your xbox360 controller - then this may work on the xbox One depending on how the upcoming adapter works with the xbox One controller.
