Can't get Xbox One connected to receiver to get 5.1 surround...

So, my surround sound system is only analog, without buying a digital to analog converter, is there a way to use the receiver I have to convert the Xbox Ones digital signal to analog for my system?

I have tried connecting an optical cable from the One to the receiver and then the analog cables from the receiver to my surround sound speakers but can't get it to work.

I am including a picture of the back of my receiver in case this is hopefully possible and someone can walk me through it.

Help with surround sound please

Guys anyone know how i can get surround sound from my xbox one. I have a pioneer vsx-827 7.1 receiver. I have xbox one connected direct to receiver via hdmi but i do not have any surround sound controls on my receiver when xbox is on. Even watching stan
or netflix movies that are 5.1 i only get stereo or pcm

I am wandering what is the process for connecting a Kilspch 5.1 surround sound speaker to the Xbox One. The current set-up right now is connected directly to the TV audio output to the Kilspch AUX input to get the surround sound. Also, I am curious if the
Kinect for Xbox One will support the full control of this Audio/Video Receiver.

Your receiver looks a lot like the Onkyo one I have. Without knowing the rest of your setup, what I have is the Xbox One HDMI going into the receiver (as well as the BD player, Cable box & Xbox 360) and then an HDMI cable in the HDMI out slot to the TV.

What is the rest of your setup? And how are you connecting everything to your TV?

Yeah, I have the video working fine. I have an hdmi going from the tv to the hdmi out on the receiver and then another from the hdmi out slot on the Xbox One to the hdmi 1 slot on the receiver. I don't have cable but I do have the xbox 360 plugged into the
cable hdmi port on the Xbox One.

But what I thought would be possible would be to have an optical cable going from the xbox one to the receiver and then have the analog cables plugged into the receiver and into the actual surround sound system, since that's all it takes. I hope all this
makes sense.

No, the Xbox One S does not simulate ATMOS from a 5.1 source.

However, since the Xbox One can run multiple sound applications at any given time (for example you run an Atmos enabled game, while having a music app running in the background), the console will ALWAYS output an ATMOS signal to your receiver, since the
game sound is in spatial surround.

Into that ATMOS spatial surround sound track, the stereo music track will be mixed in. But since the music track does not have surround or height information in it's stereo signal, you won't get the music in ATMOS spatial surround, even if your receiver
shows ATMOS coming in.

If you watch a 5.1 video in VUDU, the Xbox will distribute the 5.1 sound information to the front, center, back surround and subwoofer channels for the ATMOS signal, and your ceiling speakers for example won't get sound.

So even if your receiver shows ATMOS, and you have twenty speakers mounted in your home cinema, only the standard 5.1 speakers will produce sound, if you watch a 5.1 sound source.

Will this issue ever be resolved Microsoft? To get surround sound (5.1) for live TV I may have to give up the guide and XBOX ONE and get live TV through my TV where I get 5.1 surround. This is going backward in my opinion as XBOX ONE guide is excellent.

I am having an issue since the April update, but I didn't connect the two. Suddenly I am not getting 5.1 either. My surrounds just stopped working. Not my receiver.

I have a 5.1 dolby digital receiver/dvd player hooked to xbox one with an optical cable and to the tv with hdmi Xbox setting is set to bitstream out dolby digital and I get full 5.1 on games and blue ray works perfectly and menu sounds but any music or
video app or a dvd that has 5.1 audio won't work the music and video apps only give 2.1 and the dvd with 5.1 sounds so muffled I can't hear I have tried everything and all I can get is this or fake surround and I don't want fake surround if all the apps are
in 2.1 why wouldn't the Xbox be smart enough to mix the sound through all the channels of audio if the program only does 2.1

OK I manually set the Xb1 display to manual, changed to 5.1 and get no center channel, change to DTS surround and get no sound at all.

My connections are

PS3, PS4, Xbox360, cable box, Xb1 to tv by HDMI

TV optical out to receiver, optical out set to RAW

Everything works 5.1 fine with the receiver but the Xbox1. What am I missing? please help
