    Can't get TV to switch on with Xbox, do i need connect


    I have tried everything to get my LG TV to connect to my Xbox one so that it turns on and off with my xbox. It looks very simple watching youtube tutorials but its just not working with my TV.

    I have tried the Auto connect, then manually entering Make and model number and then entering remote code. Nothing works. Its definitely set up correctly and set to switch TV on and off in the one guide settings. The remote code is the only thing I'm
    not 100% sure they are correct but i tried a bunch of them i found online but none work.

    Am i missing something simple here ? Im thinking i may need a Kinect for this feature to work ? When setting up manually it tried to send a MUTE signal to the TV but tried over and over and getting nothing.

    TV make / model number is LG - 42LE4500

    Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

    Hello. I recently got a soundbar that only has an optic connect. I don't connect directly through xbox and I went optic from tv to soundbar, cable box hd cable to tv, xbox to tv. For some reason TV (hd 1) and everything works fine, but when I switch to
    xbox (hd4) i have video but no audio. Is it something in the options menu I need to do, change cable/cord routing, or both? Thanks for the time.

    I will check but I do have an AV system which is setup up just like the Basic Set Up Guidelines specify:

    Basic setup with an audio/video receiver

    With an audio/video (A/V) receiver, the best and most direct option is to connect the devices sequentially:

    1. Connect your set-top box HDMI output to the Xbox One HDMI input.
    2. Connect the Xbox One HDMI output to your A/V HDMI input.
    3. Connect your A/V HDMI output to the HDMI input on your TV.
    Now I will have to see if the TV has HDMI output to include A/V if Xbox needs to go directly to TV or switch to optical

    My other half loves the OneGuide and the fact that she can quickly and easily get to things such as Netflix. She also loves the fact that she can press the switch on the front of the Xbox and everything connected starts BUT she absolutely hates having to
    find the xbox controller (She wont do voice commands), press the button, wait for it to connect, navigate to the TV tile and then finally launch TV.

    I can't really blame her, it is needed.

    It has something to do with my tv and xbox connection. I switched the console to a different tv and it seems to be fine now. It's odd though bc it has been connected to the same tv with no problems since we got it? (TV is a new Samsung.)

    So just to get this straight:-

    Router installed in the dinner room

    Ethernet cabling throughout the house to "your room" , so you plug your Desktop into the wall

    Is that right?

    If so, no please do not buy another router it is not needed. If you need more ports please buy a cheap 5 port Ethernet switch and Ethernet cable. Most switches are "auto sensing" so you can connect the switch via an Ethernet cable to your wall port in your
    room and then from that switch a connection to your desktop and Xbox.

    If you can't get hold of an autosensing switch (most are) buy a crossover cable to connect the switch to the wall

    I have exactly the same problem. My son's xbox is connected to TV with HDMI, then using the green plugs i plug direct into the red an white audio on the back of his TV. I've tried switching the TV to external speaker and the sound stops on the TV, but
    still doesn't come through the X12's. Do I need to bu the Xbox audio cable? Any advise apprecited.

    I have heard of this situation with some TVS mostly with either smart tvs that are connected on the same internet connection and are set to change to new signal when a new video source is detected. I would suggest checking the TV's in question to make sure
    it's not the case of them looking for the device via internet connection or has the setting on of (switch to new signal when detected).

    To assist you further on this we would need to know the TV models in question that are switching channels though. There is of course other tv's that do switch to new video source when detected so if you're using a HDMI splitter to switch between rooms ect
    that would also explain it as well,
    I read on another post the IR sensor is what is controlling the TVs and it's not done with an internet connection.
