Can't get to Social, Clubs, Rivals or Marketplace all grayed out

I can't get to Social, Clubs, Rivals or Markplace and they are all grayed out like the title says. I googled and searched for the answer but can't find anything that actually works. All search results point to the game needing an update of some sort. I purchased
the game during the black friday sale and I don't think an update has been released since that time.

What I've tried:

Press Xbox button, then press options and 'quit game'

I've also hard resetting the xbox but nothing changes.

It doesn't appear that an update can be applied to the game. Because I can't get to social I can't accept my gifts so the car packs I purchased are not available to me.

Also "instant on" is enabled and other games auto-update just fine. Call of Duty updated today just fine.

Are they fixing the servers for forza horizon 2 ?

"We are aware of an issue with #ForzaHorizon2 where players will see Social, Clubs, Rivals and Marketplace tabs grayed out. We are currently working on a solution and appreciate your patience whilst we resolve the issue"

Have you played the "career" / solo part of the game yet?

You have to play a set amount before you get access to the clubs etc.

Yes I am signed up for the Rockstar Social Club. If I log onto the Social Club website on my phone I can see that it is recording my stats from playing. But for some reason I can't access it in game.

To check, have you signed up for a Rockstar Social Club account? Once you sign in with that and then sign into Xbox Live, you should be able to download the content from the in-game marketplace.

The synchronization failed message appears to be an error on Rockstar's side of things with the Social Club. Keep us in the loop with what's up.
