Can't get the xbox live gold backwards compatible games

I'm trying to get bayonetta since it is free for xbox live gold this month, but when I try to get it, it says, "your account is unable to make this purchase from Xbox.com. please complete this transaction from your xbox" but I was
on my xbox one looking at the game in the store! Please help.

Backwards compatibility is going to be deemed a success or failure depending on the publishers..

i actually thought they should have made Xbox Live Gold membership the sole requirements to using Backwards Compat

No, you don't need to be a member of Xbox Live Gold to play backwards compatible games.

If you're on a child account, you'll have to make the purchase from a 360 console. If not, make sure you have a credit card or Paypal on file to make the purchase.

As Smwutches mentioned, if you are using a Child or Teen account you would need to make the purchase on an Xbox 360 console. Then you'll be able to download the game from the

Ready to Install section on the Xbox One console.

Games with Gold Titles Included in Backward Compatibility

When backward compatibility launches in November, all future Xbox 360 Games with Gold titles will be playable on Xbox One. That means Xbox Live Gold members now will get more free games to play each month on Xbox One.

that is why unable to get the backward compatible games. They will not work with the 14 day trial unfortunately. In this link

describing Xbox live gold there is a section explains the trials.

With an Xbox Live Gold 2- to 14-day trial, you can get Xbox One Games with Gold, and discounted Gold deals.

If it was a one month trial you could get the backward compatible games.

Trials are basically like a beta. There are limits to trials, reason the games are asking you to purchase is due to it isn't a full Xbox live gold subscription. You also need billing information on the account to get free games with gold that are backward
