Can't get keyboard to type password on Xbox One

Many thanks Jurgen. In fact I've tried these but none works. I'm thinking it's a problem with the controller so I'll buy a new one and see how that goes. I use an Apple computer.

Try restarting your Xbox

Hold the power button down until it shuts off.

Just to understand the situation fully do you mean that when you type in your password the letters start from the left margin or the right margin? For example if you type in "cat" does it come out as "tac"? Does it do this when just using the Search tool
or browsing the Microsoft Store?

Can you sign into account.microsoft.com or account.xbox.com with the new password?

Either way that isn't normal and the console will need to be troubleshooted. If you haven't done so already go ahead and do a

hard reset and power cycle to your Xbox. Hold down the power button on the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down and then remove the power cable from the Xbox and the power outlet for about 2-3 minutes. Then
re-connect and turn on the Xbox. Try signing in again with the new password.

If it is still doing the same thing you will need to try a
soft factory reset, but only if you have your account login information available and if you have your Network password if you connect over WiFi.
