Cant get blu ray working offline

Hello, my Internet has gone down for a couple days with nothing I can do about it, so I'm extremely limited with the blocks on the Xbox One when you have no connection.

It's extremely frustrating as it is to be locked out of 90% of the games I paid for, even when they aren't online games.

One thing I just can't wrap my head around is why I'm blocked from watching Blu Ray movies.

I don't get it AT ALL!!!!!

There's no reason for this!!!!

Is there any way to change this? Ive heardof other people being able to watch Blu Ray discs when they have no connection, but I can't find any settings or anything to allow this feature that shouldn't be blocked in the first place.

And just so any reader of this post is aware, all my stuff is fully updated. I check for updates every day.

Google searches showed turning off the Enhanced setting thingy and clearing out the one cache, but that didn't change it either.

Xbox One S pre-orders 'off to an amazing start'

Ya that 4k blu-ray player is a must have for 4k enthusiasts. Fact is even 4k streaming like netflix cant produce the same quality as a 4k blu ray. And on top of it the only other true 4k blu-ray costs at least 350 bucks. The reason for the high cost is because it needs a good proccessor in it, and that is something the xbox one has!

Im still kinda surprised we didnt see a slim without a bluray drive, or in other words an all digital xbox. Maybe within a year? Maybe the scorpio wont have a blu-ray drive? Hmmmm

It sounds like you may not have your Xbox One set as your home console. Unfortunately if you don't have it set as your home console you'll be unable to access your Games and Apps while offline. Check out the steps on

KY u said its a fail and we was wrong about the blu ray. i love the fact that if u get a ps4 and dont have the net u cant even watch a blu ray film lol

I'm aware of people's recommendation to switch to offline mode. That's not my issue. My issue is that I simply shouldn't have to spend 20 minutes troubleshooting the issue to play Blu-Rays. When I put in a Blu-Ray, it should play as long as the thing
is connected to a TV and is getting electricity. Simple as that. The kicker is, I was getting two different error messages while trying to watch Blu-Rays with my wife after we got off work. Neither one of them, ultimately, even suggested to try offline
mode. Steam does. It will try once or twice and then let you know to try offline mode.

But again, I want to play Blu-Rays, why does it need Xbox Live, to verify the app before I run it? Does Microsoft think I freaking pirated the blu-ray player app on my Xbox? It's absolute insanity. It really is. Also, from a company who has been developing
software for 40 years and has enough capital to shame the GDP of a few small countries, it's honestly unacceptable given how much we pay for these consoles.

Blu-ray player probably needs an update if it requires an internet connection. Unfortunately, older versions and builds don't work offline sometimes
