  1. Can't get an open NAT

Hello everyone, so I've been trying to get my xbox one to have an open NAT with our new router. The ASUS RT-AC3200. So on day one after hours of trying to get it to an open NAT I finally did. At least it was
open until I woke up today and it said moderate.

    What you should know:

    • we have 2 X1s 1PS4 and 1 X360
    • I dont need an open NAT on both X1s just mine
    • UPnP is enabled
    • I have forwarded all ports recommended by Xbox, as well as 16000, and 3075 (I have tried UPnP w/o any ports forwarded)
    • My Router: ASUS RT-AC3200
    • My Xbox is on Energy Saving mode
Any suggestions please, anything more you need to know I probably won't be able to tell you till later tomorrow.

    :)

Can't get an open NAT type

I'm connecting to Live through an Inventel DV4210-WU wireless router, and am stuck at moderate/strict NAT (it changes from time to time between the two). UPnP has been activated, ports have been forwarded, the entire lists of solution offered by both Microsoft
and these forums have been worked through for both wired and wireless connection, and yet I still can't improve this at all.

Is there anything I could have missed that could helpp out, or anything specific to my router? I would greatly appreciate any assistance in the matter.

The best way to get an Open NAT type is to call your internet provider and see what they can do on their end. As Bimnog said, it almost depends on the type of modem you are using and what kind of internet your being provided with (fiberoptic, 3G, etc.) Feel
free to send me a private message and i would love to help you out!

You can hard reset the console. Steps below.

Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds until power off.

    2) Unplug everything connected to the console (HDMI, Power etc)

    3) Wait up to 5 minutes before reconnecting the console.

    4) Start the console and be presented with the green loading screen.

    5) Wait until it finishes and then go to settings - network - network settings - test network connection + multiplayer connection.

    6) (Optional) Settings - network - network settings - advanced settings - alternate MAC address - clear - Restart console.

    Can't get an open NAT

Okay. I am going to chime in here. You actually have two routers connected to your network. The first thing you need to do is make sure your Arris is set up in bridge mode (ALL network capabilities disabled). If you have the log in credentials to do
that and are comfortable doing it then go for it else you might want to get your ISP involved. After that is done then make sure your ASUS is running he most current firmware and that UPnP is enabled. At this point go ahead and remove all port forwarding
from the router. UPnP will handle most situations successfully which will result in a cleaner configuration. You may have to resort to port forwarding later but I would let that be a last resort. Give that a try and let us know how it goes.

  9. That's easy. If you were able to change it to Open before and upon waking up, you find it changed again to moderate. It only means one thing. You have a dynamic IP so no matter how many times you do port forwarding on your router, it will change back every
single time you reset your router.

First step, set a static local IP for your Xbox One.

    1. Scroll left from Home to open the guide.

    2. Select Settings.

    3. Select All Settings.

    4. Select Network.

    5. Select Network settings. Select Advanced Settings.

    6. Select IP settings.

    7. Select Manual.

    8. Enter the unique IP address that you made up, and then select Enter.

    9. Enter your computer’s Subnet mask, and then select Enter.

    10. Enter your computer’s default Gateway, and then select Enter.

    11. Select DNS Settings.

    12. Select Manual.

    13. Enter the Primary DNS setting that you found on the computer, and then select Enter.

    14. Enter the Secondary DNS setting that you found on the computer (if there was one) and then select Enter.

ONLY after setting a static IP on your console, do you open ports on your router or gateway.

Now, just on the off chance that it's still not working,

Just, enable perimeter network (also known as DMZ) functionality on your router

Note It is critical that you use a static IP address on the console when you set up a perimeter network. To set a static IP address, use your router’s DHCP reservation function, when available. If this is not available, you will have to set
up manual IP settings on your Xbox. You will only be able to place one Xbox console into the perimeter network. Therefore, if you have multiple consoles, this solution will only resolve the issue for one Xbox. (the static IP referred here is not the Static
WAN IP from ISP, it is the local static IP)

    - manually configure console IP settings

    - access router's administration panel to enable DMZ and provide the local static IP address that was assigned for the console

    - in layman, we need to tell the router to open the ports for the console, the static IP will act as its identifier

And yeah. these steps are on Xbox Support's official web support link:
    support.xbox.com/.../nat-error-solution

I just find that support link lacking so I added specific details for people who are not so techie.
