Can't get an IP address

I've been having trouble with my nat type recently. it says strict, yes I know that's not what is suppose to say but I got a little annoyed because I was following all steps to get rid of it then I just got in over my head adjusting my IP address manually
and now I can't even connect to xbox live! I tried to hit change automatically but nothing happens. Now when I try to sign in to live it says can't get an IP address. PLEASE HELP, I don't know what to do! Would factory resetting be the best thing and just
redownload my account back onto my xbox?? If so would it delete all my progreas on my games? please get back to me ASAP .

I've been running into an almost identical issue for the past week. Hope we can get some answers/fixes.

 

Can't get teredo IP address

For the past few months my chat on Xbox has been bugging out and not connecting to parties, and its because my Xbox one can't pick up the teredo IP address. I have tried everything within reason which includes factory resetting my Xbox and nothing worked
what do I do?

 

Did you adjust anything in your router? If so you need to put your router back to DHCP and not static IPs.

If you haven't changed anything in the router first make sure both the IP and DNS are set to automatic on your Xbox. Second do a Hard restart of your Xbox by holding the power button for 6-10 seconds. Third unplug your router and let it sit for 5 to 10
minutes, plug it back in and let it fully reboot (most routers take a few minutes. After that turn on your Xbox and see if that works. If it doesn't try a direct connection to your modem (if you can unless your router is a modem/router combo supplied by
your ISP) to rule out some router issues.

 

Is your xbox on power save mode? If not - this could be the reason. Try to set your xbox to power save mode and then try again.

Be sure you have the latest Firmware for your router also.

 

As a reply to Rozilla, your Xbox does NOT need to be in powersaving mode if you are willing to Powercycle it once in a while to clear the cache

As for your NAT I highly suggest you follow these steps to set it to OPEN (behind a cone NAT)

This is what I want you to do

1. On your Xbox while on the home menu press the menu button and select
   Settings
2. From there you select Network
   
   You might want to write down the information on the right side;Subnet mask, Gateway
   
3. You then select Advanced settings This will allow you to configure your IP
   
4. You select manual DHCP selection and you will be prompted to enter an IP
   
   Try to make the IP in between 192.168.*.100 and 192.168.*.200
   
   The " * " stands for the subnet which you can copy from your gateway as this can differ for some people gateway usually looks like 192.168.0.1 so just copy the 0 in this case
   
   
5. After that you will be asked for the Subnet which you just copy from what your wrote down
   
   
6. You also just copy the gateway from what you wrote down

You now have a Static IP for your Xbox One

On to the next step

1. Go on your computer and gain access to your gateway settings
   
   This can be done by entering the gateway into a browser
2. On the sub tabs select Port Range Forwarding
3. In Start Port and End Port type in.
   
   • Port 88 (UDP)
   • Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
   • Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
   • Port 80 (TCP)
   • Port 500 (UDP)
   • Port 3544 (UDP)
   • Port 4500 (UDP)
     
     On ports where it says UDP and TCP you can select
     Both from the dropdown menu

4.In IP Address type in the IP Address of the
Xbox.

5.Put a check in the Enable box.

6.Select Save Settings.

After that powercycle the console and you should be set.

However making the Xbox select an IP automatically should allow it to find an IP but it's most likely going to be Moderate or Strict which can interfere with network stability online causing lag/rubberbanding/losing game connection
