cant get 4k when running on a projector.....

I have a 4k HDR projector with both inputs 4k 2.2 compliant, but am unable to tick allow 4k but can tick HDR.

Anyone else having this issue?

XBox One Problems with Pioneer VSX-324-K-P

By "beamer", do you mean a projector? What is the model number of your projector?

What is also the resolution you are running your Xbox at? 720p? 1080p? 4K (if an Xbox One S)?

 

Xbox is pretty cool. But wanna know how to make it cooler?

Pro-Tip: Instead of a 4K HDR TV, get yourself a 4K HDR projector and a huge projection screen.

 

Hey, fozzyrulz! Sorry to see you're running into 4K issues. HDR should be the same as 4K. If you tick on that, are you able to get your screen to show up?

If not, can you please post back with the model and manufacturer of your projector so we can dig into this a bit more? We will want to make sure that it support HDCP 2.2 and HDR10 with that information. Thanks a bunch!

 

the projector is dla-x9000b. will only allow 1080p not 4k. but allows hdr to be ticked.

 

Aha! Looking at the specifications, it looks like the HDMI port on the projector is HDCP 2.2 compatible, which is what's needed to use HDR/4K. However, since your projector itself isn't true 4K (but it is 3D? niiiiiice), it won't give you the full option
for it. It's HD for sure, but I'm unable to find anything that signifies it's 4K or some other name for 4K.

My suggestion is to just stick with the HDR to get the best quality picture for now. If you don't notice any issues for it outside of that, you should be fine!

 

Specs say its capable of receiving full spec 4k signals including 4k 60p 4:4:4. Isn't that true 4k?

 

It's a weird situation to explain. It IS true 4K, especially when it comes to other devices, but the console has very specific things that it will run 4K on.

Are you using the HDMI cable that came with the Xbox One S? If not (and I understand length is a factor when using a projector), that COULD be why it's not giving you the 4K option? However, HDR should be running just as well as 4K.

 

hdmi cable that im using is a 10m monster ultra hd black cable with a 27 gig bandwidth. so more then enough to pass 4k and hdr through.

 

Is there any way you can test with the cable that came with the Xbox One S? I do understand the situation of the length of the cable, but it's what we suggest to get the best experience with the console. If there is no way to attempt it, though, I can look
into other things for you.

 

A 10m HDMI cable is likely the issue - I'd be very surprised if that will allow HDR to pass as that length will have issues

Alright, fozzy. I checked with a couple people here, and we've come to the conclusion that trying the HDMI cable that came with the One S will help us determine what is happening. If there's a way you're able to use that cable temporarily just to see what
options you have, it will greatly help us out!

Let me know if you're able to give it a shot! I'll be able to determine what our next steps are after that.

 

Using the cable that came with the console i get 4k and hdr bit only for a while then the picture goes all weird and have to tirm the console off

 

Then it sounds like the cable itself isn't rated for what we need it to be. The picture itself going funny, we have a fix for that. In the Video Output settings, before you go into Advanced, change the TV resolution to 1080p instead of anything 4K. That
should resolve it.

Since the cable that comes with the console gives you the option, it's likely the Monster cable you have needs to be replaced with a better rated one. It might also be the length that is causing it. Give the above a try and let me know if you still have
display issues.
