Can't download xbox live profile

I can't download my gamer profile on my 360. The issue is the same each time:

• After entering my credentials it starts downloading and gets to about 75%
• At this point is resets back to 10% after freezing for 10 minutes
• It gets to 75% again and resets to 10% again. At this point it goes to 75% again before erroring out with either:
  • 80072EE2
  • 80072746

I've tried the following:

• Formatting the hard drive on the 360 before downloading
• Clearing the cache 3 times and restarting the console before downloading
• Downloading to an external USB drive, internal flash memory and internal HDD
• Downloading to a 2nd 360 at a different address
• Wired and wireless connections

I've had this problem since Saturday night but had put it down to the service alert. It seems identical to the same issue raised in April (which I experienced then). I'm not sure if it's related but the reason I deleted my profile was because I was getting
signed out each time I tried to play a game connected to live.

How to Download, Move or Delete Xbox Live Profiles

You need to download, move or delete your Xbox Live profile in certain circumstances. If you want to play on multiple consoles of your own or of your friends, you will have to download or move your Xbox Live profile from one console to another.

In addition, you might need to download the Xbox Live profile for the following reasons:

• You deleted you Xbox live profile by mistake.
• You need to use your Xbox LIVE gamertag on another console.
• You want to use your existing Zune or Games for Windows account instead of creating a new account.

You can also move your profile to the other consoles using a USB flash drive.


How to download Your Xbox Live Profile

You can easily download your Xbox Live gamertag to a console by following a few easy steps:

• Press the larger X button in the center of your controller which will lead you to the Xbox Guide.
• Select Download Profile to start download. If your do not find this option, sign out of your profile by pressing X.

Enter the user ID of your Microsoft account (Windows Live ID) which is associated with your Xbox Live gamertag and then enter the password. Select the desired storage drive to save the profile.

Note: A Microsoft account is essential for signing in to any Microsoft services like Xbox Live. You have to provide your parent’s Microsoft account information to download the profile if your account is an Xbox Live child account.

You can save your "Microsoft account" password on the console, so that you don't need to provide it to sign into your profile again. The Remember Password option is off by default. It is better to save the password on your own console not to be asked to enter the password again and again at the time of singing into your profile. If you are using a console that is not yours, you may want to leave the Remember Password option off (unchecked).

Now you should be able to sign in with your gamertag on the console.

**If per chance you did opt to check the Remember Password option on someone else's console, your password can be remotely removed off of that console. Check out How to Password Protect your Profile on Xbox Live.**


How to move your profile to another console

You can easily move your profile to another console using a USB flash drive or Xbox Memory unit following these steps:

• First off, plug a USB flash drive or an original Xbox 360 Memory Unit into your console.
• Go to the Settings option to select storage and then select All Devices.
• Select Gamer Profiles and Press Move.
• You need to select the USB Storage Device or Memory Unit

After performing the above successfully, remove the memory unit or USB flash drive and insert it into the console on which you want to move your profile. You are required to enter your Microsoft account password which ensures the security of your account.

After playing on another console, if you want to move it to previous console, remove the USB flash drive or Memory unit and take it back to the original console and repeat the steps above.

**You will be asked for your Microsoft account password when you move your profile to a different console. This is to protect you and your account if the device is ever stolen. If you want to find out more, check out How to Password Protect your Profile on Xbox Live.**


How to delete a gamer profile

You can delete unused profiles following few steps:

• Go to Settings to select system.
• Select Storage
• Go to All Devices and select Gamer Profiles.
• Select the gamertag that you want to delete.
• Press delete.

Note: You can delete the profiles only or you can delete both the profiles and items (the associated saved games and achievements).

Deleted my profile and now I can't download it. Xbox live says "Xbox live profile can't be downloaded right now, try again later." 80151103

I was searching the forums and found this possible fix courtesy of a xbox live staff member, let me know if it works for you!

1) Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and then select System Settings.

2) Select Network Settings.

3) Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network, if you are prompted to do so.

4) Select Configure Network.

5) On the Basic Settings tab, select DNS Settings.

6) Select Manual.

7) Select Primary DNS Server.

8) Enter 8.8.8.8

9) Select Secondary DNS Server.

10) Enter 8.8.4.4

11) Select Done again.

12) Press the B button on your controller, and then select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately it hasn't resolved the issue.

I should have mentioned that I'm able to download my brother's gamertag onto my machine under the same conditions. I suspect the problem is the size of the gamertag as his only has around 10,000G on it.

I've had this just occur spanning the last 1 half hour.. In addition, it would log in.. let me start a game then kick everything off... state that a 190mb update was required but I had no space [6.9gb left] then auto remove the drive... then reboot the machine...
I deleted my profile and the game that it quit on.. only to find it did it with every game.... It took me 5 times before it downloaded my profile again, I don't think its anything official going on

 

I have the same error! Tried so many things with MS support on 4 days now, still issue not solved: VERY frustrating

Here is a list of things i tried:

- resting network settings

- router reset

- changed router and i was lucky enough to even change ISP provider

- clearing cache ( several times)

- deleting trusted consoles

- adding two step verifications

- changing HD

- changing console

- downloading on flash memory

- downloading other profiles ( other profiles download successfully - with the same region settings)

- downloading content (content downloaded successfully - game trial)

- signing in on IE into xbox.com to make console trusted

- signing into xbox one while downloading profile

Still nothing, my case is now escalated. Just wanted to update the community with this frustrating error

This error is labeled as network and maybe security / some said region issues but none of the above worked

 

My error is 80072efe but with exactly the same symptoms

 

On my 5th day now! Still can't download my profile
