    I recently changed my gamertag and ever since then I have not been able to play Xbox 360 backwards compatible games. Initially on sign-in it offered my old gamertag and would fail to connect. I read online about clearing the local 360 storage and I went
    ahead and did that. Now the only option I have is "Download Profile" and every time I try it, I get the error "Cannot connect to Xbox Live".

    I called the Xbox support number 3 times today (1st call disconnected. 2nd call said try again after the service issues went away. 3rd call said they didn't know what to do and try posting on the forum and remove myself from the preview program.)

    I've done two factory resets, plus another when I removed myself from the preview program. I've done restarts and full shutdowns of not just my console, but my router/modem. I just don't understand what the issue is, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Gamertag changes.

    So I finally decided to change my username on my Xbox One but after an hour I wanted to boot up my Xbox 360 and it seems it didn't sync from my xbox one new username and still has the old username. Do I download the profile or do I wait till it updates on
    the Xbox 360 version? Because I can't access my Xbox 360 at all with that error saying "Xbox Live cannot login after changing gamertag."

    Mark this one as solved. I fixed the issue by switching to Wifi and doing that allowed me to download my 360 profile in the emulator. I played a few games of Halo Reach and it worked fine. I tried reconnecting the wire and it would fail to connect to Xbox
    Live again. So what I ended up doing was setting a static IP address (IP, Subnet mask, and Gateway address) and this allowed my wired connection to work. Turns out my gateway (modem/router combo) will set the device in the DMZ to my outward facing IP address
    (not the internal Private IP), and I guess the 360 emulator doesn't jive with that. I've taken my Xbox One out of the DMZ and I guess i'll have to live with a moderate/strict NAT, but at least it works.

    Hey there

    I downloaded my profile onto my cousins Xbox 360. The profile. and contents where successfully installed. Meaning it could be down to the profile its self

    After looking through posts. I have noticed that some people could dowload their other gamer profiles, but not their main ones. However, they did change their email address associated with their Gamertag. And this may be the problem. I can't see the problem
    been down to the Xbox One, as my profile was last on the Xbox one and still is.

    This is why I want to ask, Have you been trying or have you changed your email address connected to your Gamertag?

    He has to open up the xbox 360 menu and , Download profile‘ again because he changed his Gamertag. After you donwload youre profile again it should work! Let me know
